Amanda and Chris all but sprinted out of the car into the studio. They found Shawn leaning his forehead against the door to the bathroom almost helplessly. Amanda went into a panic when she heard Coppélia's whimpers and breathing on the other side of the door.

"I should've never done that." Shawn said quietly, turning to face them. "It was too soon. I just... couldn't help myself."

"It's not your fault, Shawn." Amanda reassured, gently pulling him away from the door. "Trust me, she wanted it as much as you did."

He raised an eyebrow, his fingers tapping a nonexistent, nervous beat, a sign of his own anxiety showing. "Then why did she..." He trailed off.

She turned to Chris. "Explain it to him. I'll handle dolly."

He nodded and she went to the door, talking quietly to the girl locked inside. Chris turned to Shawn who was still nervously looking to the door. "Manda's right. It's not your fault." He said. "It's her ex's." Shawn's gaze snapped to the dancer. "Coppélia's last boyfriend was mentally abusive towards her. She had a snippet of anxiety but after him, it spiraled into..." He motioned to the door and Shawn felt his heart snap. "She likes you, Shawn. A lot. You keep her calm just by being in the room. She's a broken doll but somehow you keep her together. I hate to get poetic and shit but it's the truth. And that's what terrifies her."

Shawn nodded understandingly. He never admitted it but... he sort of felt the same way about Coppélia. Whenever he felt anxious about performing or the crowds of fans he met this past month, even just the thought of her kept his head straight.

Both boys jumped when suddenly music sounded in the room,

Do you have the time
To listen to me whine
About nothing and everything
All at once

"Sorry." Amanda apologized quietly over the song. She placed her phone down in front of the door. "She has an obsession with punk music. It's one of the few genres that can calm her down."

"The others?" Shawn questioned, making mental notes about what worked for her.

She smiled lightly, knowing his thought process. "Ballet, obviously, Broadway, and then some specific artists or songs." She turned to him with a smirk. "Including some of your work." Shawn's heart swelled at the notion. "I'll send you her calming playlist." He nodded thankfully. They all fell silent when they heard faintly heard Coppélia take a few shaky breaths. "Dolly?"

Slowly, the door opened and Coppélia stepped out, running a hand through her hair. Before anyone could say anything, she grabbed Shawn's hand and dragged him into the studio, shutting and locking the door. Chris went to follow but Amanda stopped him. "Let them talk. He'll be good for her." Her boyfriend nodded and wrapped an arm around her as the studio door closed.
