Theo's POV

Dinner went really well. We all split the bill because none of us would let the others pay, and Michael and Rowan headed to their dorm, so Liam and I went back to ours.

"What did you think of Rowan?" I ask eagerly when we close the door. A blush covers Liam's face.

"He... he's really nice, and friendly. I like him." He smiles. I give him a smirk.

"You like like him?" I raise an eyebrow. Liam's face blushes even more.

"N-no! It's too soon. I just met him." He protests.

"Ever heard of true love at first sight?"

"I don't believe in that," Liam admits quietly, "I understand attraction at first sight, but that's not love. Loving someone is being by their side no matter what, willing to risk your life for them. Supporting them when they're hurt, allowing yourself to be your most vulnerable in their presence. You couldn't do that with a stranger."

"True," I agree, "but Rowan's not a stranger right? He's a friend now. That's what you said back at the restaurant."

"Y-yeah, but it's still too soon to fall in love with someone."

"Okay okay, I'll leave you alone... for now." I tease, patting Liam's back.

"How are you and Michael, by the way? Is he treating you properly?"

"Yes, Li. He's great. We're thinking of coming out to our parents sometime, since it's been a few months since we started dating." I reveal, smiling at the thought of Michael.

"Really? You're willing to come out to your parents for him?" Liam asks, surprised, "... he must really be special, then."

"Yeah, he is. Although that could just be because he's the first real relationship I've had."

"Speaking of relationships... what are you going to tell your parents about Stephanie?" Liam questions.

"I... I don't really know yet. I'll definitely tell them that Stephanie and I are no longer a thing, but I'm not sure if I should tell them I've never really loved her or if I should just let them think Stephanie is just an ex I used to love."

"I think you should be honest with them. What if one day Stephanie says something? They'll be much more upset compared to if you just told them now." Liam reasons. I let out a sigh and run my hand through my hair.

"I hope you're right. I'll be discussing this more with Michael before we say anything. I'm so scared Li." I admit, and Liam pulls me into a comforting hug. It's times like these that I'm so thankful for Liam as a friend. He's really good at comforting people and just being there for them.

About a week has passed, and Michael and I have been discussing how to come out.

We figured my parents would be the first to know. Michael is supposed to come with me over to my house, where we'd let them know we're dating, and if they kick us out, Michael has reservations at a nearby hotel.

We're going to put it off until after exams, because Michael has told me about Rowan's experience on coming out before exams, and having the knowledge that your family hates you and is homophobic during exams is not a good combination.

2 months seem like a long way away (more like 1 1/2 months) but it should go by pretty quickly since everyone will start focusing on exams.

Psychology is kind of annoying to study for, with all the different parts of the brain, how it works, what factors influence behaviour, etc.

Ethan has fun studying for technological design. It's something he really enjoys and combines all of this strengths into one subject. Technology, Math, and Art. Lucky him.

Liam is studying animal medical, but he enjoys it. He loves animals and wants to open his own veterinarian clinic to help them. This means he's usually buried in his books though, and has less time to hang out with us.

We all have those friends that fret that they're going to fail a test or exam every time, but always end up getting 90's or higher.

And I mean always 90 or higher.

That's our friend group.

We're all basically nerds. I hate that word, nerds, but I guess that's the best way to describe us.

Kids used to tease me about it and called me a nerd. I hated it.

Back on track though, we have absolutely no clue how we did, since results won't come out until a few months later, but of course we're all terrified and over analyzing every single answer we wrote on the exam.

I can tell that Michael is super stressed, and I get it. He told me he's always been a straight A student, and his parents have kind of expected him to be ever since he was little. Anything lower than a 90 was basically a fail.

"You doing okay?" I ask quietly to Michael. Our friend group had gone out for a little "exams are over" treat at an ice cream shop.

"Guess so. Sorry, I'm just anxious for the results. This happens every year, don't mind me." He smiles at me. I give him a small kiss on the cheek before returning to scarfing down my ice cream.

The 5 of us are now pretty good friends. Liam and Rowan are definitely very close, despite it only being a short time since they've met. Ethan is friendly with Rowan and Michael, although he may not be as close to them as we are. I know this makes him feel a little left out, so we try to include him best we can.

"How's your dance thing going on?" Michael asks Ethan. He perks up at the sound of his name.

"Pretty well. There's these few steps that everyone keeps messing up, but we're almost ready to put on a performance." Ethan says between bites of ice cream.

"When are you performing? We'd love to go and see you!" Liam says excitedly.

"Uh, August 16th I think? Although you guys don't have to come." Ethan responds.

"It'd be a good idea, I think. We can finally see you dance after you talking about it for months." Rowan chuckles. Ethan smiles, and says he'll see if he can get us tickets with good seats when the tickets come out.

"That would be cool. What kind of dance do you do again?" Michael asks.

"All kinds! Ballet, and hip hop mainly. Not a fan of break dancing, but I've tried ballroom dancing before. It was interesting."

"Which kind of dance is the one you'll be performing?" I inquire.

"Hip hop." Ethan grins at me. I've heard the song they plan to use playing in his room with the door closed when he practices at the dorm, so I'm pretty hyped to see it live.

-

We parted and said our goodbyes after that ice cream meet up.

May 14, when we'll meet up with my parents.

I'm terrified.
