Fire...

We made it back to Red after that....incident. We cooked the birds as Chris started to tell stories about his family. He only has a sister, which doesn't live to far.

I wonder what happened to his parents. Was it like my parents, who got murdered? What? You can't blame me for being curious. Anyway, we ate and started to head out.
"I saw a grocery store nearby. I need to get food for the children," I said to Chris.

He sighed. "Unfortunately, that area contains a lot of bad people. I wouldn't risk it if I were you."

I growled. "I'm not a five-year old. I know what gangs are. Heck, YOUR gang kidnaped me!"

He didn't say anything after that. He's mad. I can tell.

(A few hours)

We haven't said anything. Is he still mad at me? I don't even know anymore. But at least Red is here. I can at least tell him about things. Yes, I know that animals can't talk.

We found a hotel and luckily,there were two rooms open. They honestly looked at me strange when they saw me, wanting my own room. A girl needs privacy, too.

Red came with me to my room. Chris went to his. I decide to talk to Red, since I have nothing else to do.
"Red, is Chris still mad at me?" I asked

"Yes." I heard someone say. My powers triggered and I sent out my blaster.

"Woah! Calm down! It's just me!" exclaimed Red.

"Since when did you talk?!" I shouted.

"A very long time."

"And you decide not to tell me?!"

"I didn't want to scare you." His ears went down. "I'm sorry."

I softened. My blaster disappeared. "No, I'm sorry I shouldn't hav-" I smell something. Red smells something, too.

"Melody...." Red begin.

"Smoke...?" I realized. "We need to get out of here." I quickly got my stuff. I opened the door and saw Chris running. He's too far for me to teleport him to safety. I teleported Red and myself to safety.

Most people were out and I saw Chris coming out. He came to me and Red.

"Are you two ok?" He looks worried. We both nod.

I hear a woman, crying. "My baby! You need to get him!" She was pleading to the Firefighters.

"We can't do anything ma'am. The whole building will fall apart in any minute," they said.

But I can do it. Without thinking, I instantly ran to the building. I hear barking, crying, shouting, etc, as I ran.

The fire was everywhere. I teleported many places in about a minute. I finally reached a little boy. He looks so scared, crying his eyes out. He saw me and instantly hugged me. I picked him up quickly.

"Please...save me miss.." said the young boy.

"I will... I promise. Hold on, ok?" I asked. He nodded. I heard something crashes. The building. I teleported quickly before things got worse.

I made it behind everyone. The boy was still in my arms. I looked around and found the mother.

"Mommy!" cried the little boy. The women turned around. Shocked, yet so happy. She ran and grabbed the boy, hugging him.

"Oh thank goodness! You are safe." The mother looked at me. "Thank you."

I smiled and nodded. I coughed a bit. The smoke really got to me. Before I said anything, I got tackled by Red. He licked all over my face.

I laughed, petting his white fur. Chris came to me, looking relieved. I wonder though. How did that fire start? An oven fire wouldn't do that much damage. It was so strong as if.....

As if they were used by powers. This makes sense. Someone knows I left and try to kill me. But who?

......I think I know. No one would've gone out looking for me. They are either too scared or too young. Except one.....
