Ch. 23 The Good Doctor

Doctor Octavius' classroom a few weeks ago

Y/n and Otto are working on a design prototype for a prosthetic arm.

Y/n: You know Doc you never told me why exactly you decided to make a prosthetic arm.

Otto: Well L/n all my life I wanted to help people less fortunate, that is why I enrolled in Atlas, to become a hunter, but I quickly realized that my greatest strength was not my fighting prowess but my mind.

Y/n: So you thought you could do as much good in a lab coat as you could in armor.

Otto: Exactly L/n!

Y/n: So what exactly did you work on?

Otto: Well first I thought that the Atlas military would appreciate weapons. So I gave them the designs for artificial intelligence that can blend into any environment, but general Ironwood himself, shut my project down and kicked me out of the school.

Y/n: So they kicked you out because they were scared of your ideas? That's not fair.

Otto: I know Y/n,*inhales sharply through his teeth* anyway when I got the job at Beacon about 12 years ago I quickly made friends with Dr. Conners, and seeing him struggle with one arm, made me realize I can give back to the people I care about, and I can do the same for the people all over the world.

Y/n: Wow that's really admirable of you doc.

Otto: Yeah well, I have to make up for my mistakes (some worse than others)

Y/n: I can see myself becoming someone like you someday.

Otto: That's fitting because I see a lot of myself in you L/n.

Y/n: Thanks doc, that means a lot.

Otto: Your welcome L/n now enough talk let's get back to work shall we!?

After a while, they work on the arm for a few hours they break for coffee.

Y/n walks back into the classroom holding two hot cups of coffee.

Y/n: Her doc.

Otto: Thanks L/n *takes coffee*

Otto then looks to the prosthetic arm they are working on and then to the 4 mechanical arms they finished a while ago.

Otto: You know L/n I think if we keep working together I think we can change the world for the better.

Y/n: Thanks Doc, I am very honored to work with you...*Looks at 4 mechanical arms*

Flashback

Sandman: he was a scientist or robotics expert of some sort, I every step he took shook the ground.

Y/n: Hey Doc...you...havn't used those arms yet have you?

Otto: No why?

Y/n: Well because we have not properly tested the natural interface yet, I did some research and possible side effect include sanity deterioration and personality altering.

Otto: Oh that's what you're worried about? *Hearty laugh* Trust me L/n I did some testing I know how dangerous they can be, I understand your concern but I know what I am doing.

Y/N: *Hesitant* Whatever you say Doc.

*beep* *beep*

Y/n gets out his scroll to see he has a message from Jaune.

Help Pyrrah is in trouble, crazy hunter guy called Kraven, starlight meadows bring your suit hurry!!

Y/n: *under breath* OH NO!
