It snowed all of the evening before and all of yesterday. When the storm finaly slowed down last night the snow was two feet deep. To pass the time I cleaned up the house and watched movies. We started up a fire to help keep the house warm. The cats loved sleeping by it. It was pretty calm yesterday. We stayed up late watching all of the Lord of The Rings movies. Or at least as meany as we could before getting to tired.
I wake up this morning to a cold house. I poked my head out from the covers and immeadantly pulled my head back under. The house was freezing! I cuddled closer to Ivan for warmth. For being such a cold country he was surprisingly really warm. Most likely because of his size.
"Ivan." I said poking him.
"Hmm?" He asked sleepily.
"The house is freezing."
"Hmm. Power must have gone out last night. Probably not to long after we whent to bed." He muttered sitting up.
"Yea. I'll go start the fire place." I yawned.
"Nyte. Stay in bed, I'll go start it." He bent over and kissed my forehead.
"Thanks babe." I yawned again and snuggled deeper into the bed. I was about to fall asleep again when he came back up and shook me awake. "Was up?"
"It is probably best if you move to the couch. The warmth will not reach this far easily." He said pulling me up.
I groaned but followed him down anyways. With all the blankets wrapped around me of course. Even with the fire only being on for a few minutes their was a noticeable difference in temperature. I sat back on the couch and closed my eyes.
"The stove is not working." I can called from the kitchen.
"Yea, it's a gas stove with an electric lite. So you gotta use a match or lighter to lite the gass." I said getting up and walking into the kitchen. "I have a lighter in the junk drawer. It's ment for this exact purpose."
I grabbed the lighter out of the drawer and flicked it. A small flame sprung up indicating it still worked. I put it up against the gas and lit the stove. With a smile I put the lighter back.
"Their you go big guy. Try not to accidentally turn off the stove. It sucks to have to keep relighting it." I said playfully. "Whatcha making anyways?"
"Oatmeal. It is good solid meal, great for keeping warm." He told me as he cooked.
"Good. I'm freezing." I said cuddling up to his side. "So, what do you wanna do today?"
"Not much we can do with power out and with such deep snow. Do you have any board games we could play perhaps?" He asked.
"No, but I got a deck of cards. I don't really keep board games, I have no one to play with generally." I said checking the time on my phone. We had slept in till 11:19. Not surprising since we stayed up till 2:37.
"You're phone still works?"
"Yes. I charged it last night while we were watching the movie. I have no service though. Doesn't matter anyway. Their is no way anyone will be able to fix the power out here while the snow is still as deep as it is." I explained as I got the cats their morning caned food. "Oh!"
"What is wrong?" Ivan asked turning to face me.
"Nothing, I just remembered that I have a radio here." I said as I put the plates down for the hungry kitties. "I'll go turn it on. Maybe we'll get the weather report. Worst case we'll at least have some background noise."
"Is the radio battery powered?" He asked.
"Yea. You can power it up with batteries or plug it into the wall. It's really neat." I turned on the radio and fiddled with the dial for a little bit. It was mostly static, but I did manage to find one good station. A country station. "I hope this works for you, not like you'd have a choice anyway."
