Our metal footsteps echoed through the metal and stone walls, we walked with our guns pointed up. We slowly moved, step after step, as I looked around my helmet lights reflected off of the shined walls. As we walked down the dimly lit halls, walking past sharp turns and open halls, I wished we were given automatic weapons.

I made a mental note to grab an assault rifle next time.

"My radar isn't picking up anything." David spoke as we came up to a fork in the halls, we could go left towards a brighter hall, or left into pitch blackness.

"Mine either, but we can't be too sure." I said looking either way, I couldn't hear anything and I didn't feel at danger. I just felt nervous, thinking about something coming from the darkness to attempt to kill us. 

"Which way should we go?"

I looked at him and down the halls, "Well I didn't see any other ways out on the fly by, so these halls in theory should go to the same place."

"Theory being the keyword." He deadpanned, I nodded slightly.

"I guess I'll go right, you go left." I said as I began to walk down the dark hallway, I made sure that our comms were linked so we atleast could talk to each other. 

After walking for a certain amount of time I began to drop my aimed stance, I stood up straight and began walking normally. This hall was way too long, and there was nothing down here. "David, something's up."

"What?"

"I've been walking for nearly 2 minutes and it's still dark, there are no doors, or other halls, something isn't right."

"Huh, well I've been going down different halls. I still don't have anything on motion tracker either."

I froze as I heard a noise, I held my DMR up and turned my lights off. My night vision activated briefly before light flooded the hall. I could now see air vents and exhaust ports, danger tape along the roof and the now flashing red lights.

My eyes widened as I realised this was some sort of docking bay, I ducked down as multiple banshees flew in and past me. They slowed down to a halt before landing in the hallway, it was then I saw a hatch above the leading banshee in the hangar, probably used for flying out of the base.

"David! This is an air base, a squad of banshees just flew in over me!"

"What!?" 

A plasma blast flew into my chest as multiple other shots flew past me, I dodged to the left of the hall before pulling my DMR up. I fired multiple shots at the elites to break their shields, counting as I went. It took 4 shots to break the energy barrier, then 3 to kill, only 1 to the head. Doing the math as I continued to press the trigger came out to at most 7 shots, at least 5. That means with complete accuracy I could kill 3 elites before and empty clip.

As the first elite fell and my calculations were complete I dropped my mag, I pulled another from my pocket and slapped it in before moving the firing lever to chamber the bullet. I dodged out of the way of a charged plasma shot and from my now crouched position began to fire at an elites head. 

"Hey man, I could use some backup. They set off an alarm, there's an army on me!" David shouted over the comms, I could hear his shotgun firing as plasma bolts shot past him.

"I'm a little busy." I said as I moved onto my third elite, I killed him and saw that there was only one more. I pulled my pistol out and fired multiple times until I saw his shield break before popping him in the head with my DMR. I now stood in a hall with six bodies and banshees, I reloaded my guns as I began to run back towards the main building.

"I'm coming, I'll be there as soon as I can." I said over comms. I ran through the hall until I reached the main room where the halls split, I saw a ton of grunts, jackals, and elites. "Nevermind that D, I'm going to need your help."

I pulled my DMR up and began to shoot, they all began to fire back. It looked like a painting with how many colors were flying at me, I ran back into the hallway and took cover behind the turn. "I'm almost done clearing out my room, where are you?"

"I'm at the main room, wishing I was given an assault rifle. Who's idea was it to give me nothing but long range weapons? There's at least a hundred things in this room."

"I'll be there soon, but you do have a knife."

I looked to my chest and sighed, I let my DMR fall to my side on it's strap before pulling out a couple grenades. I pulled the pins and threw them in the room before pulling out my knife, I ran into the room as the bombs went off and jumped through the smoke.

I landed on an elite and stabbed the alien in the neck, I jumped off and sliced up a grunt before rolling towards an elite to stab his throat. I continued to jump around and pull off kills, as I rounded to another elite he began to spray has storm rifle at me. I ran through the onslaught of plasma and my shields broke, I ignored the damage and jumped on him. As I took him to the floor I stabbed my knife into his collar and dragged it up his neck, effectively killing him.

I stood up and looked around the now empty room as David jogged in, my shields were beeping rapidly before a drawn out beep resounded as they came back to full strength. "Look's like you got work done." David said as he walked over to me, I nodded as I breathed heavily. 

All of a sudden plasma bolts flew past us as the main hallway, leading outside was filled with Covenant. David crouched down and pulled out his rocket as I began to run towards them, I had my knife in my left hand and my pistol in my right.

I jumped into the air as David's rocket flew past me and blew up a ton of Jackals, I flew through the smoke and wreckage shooting multiple rounds from my pistol into multiple Grunts. As I landed I began to run through the crowd, not caring who I killed on the way, or how many I didn't. I checked my 6 to make sure David was there and sure enough he was running behind me shooting what I didn't.

We made it to the outside and I looked around, with all of the Covenant being alerted of our presence, doing anything would be hard. Climbing this cliff would be one of them, "How are we going to get to the Pelican before more Covenant show up?"

I turned around and looked towards the right hallway at the end of the main corridor, "Maybe we get help from the Covenant?"
