Danny woke up with a somewhat bittersweet feeling on his mouth. He was going home.
But, was he though?
He couldn't deny that he loved Earth. Sam was there, Tucker was there, Jazz was there. They were his family.
What about Danette? She was family too but his little girl was stuck in the Ghost Zone. He missed her constantly but wouldn't let her enter to Earth. It was too dangerous especially with is parents out there.
Over a year ago, Danny had gone to a party and Dash had spiked his drink when he was not looking. Danny, unknowingly, drank it all in one go. Yes, he had been careless but he was so damn thirsty he didn't realize his mistake until some minutes later.
He was a lousy drinker, he discovered that night.
Somehow he ended up turning ghost in an alley and was ready to fight whoever appeared. Only with his luck, the first people he saw where his parents.
Even though his parents where the first ones to attack, he didn't fly away. He was so mad about how poorly they thoughts of ghosts and how every time he talked to them, they always managed to bring the whole "ghost are a hazard to society and evil" into the conversation that he fired with fire of his own.
Being in his drunken state of mind, he was captured and taken to the lab. They had used blood blossoms to keep him restrained and his body began to ache until he had trouble breathing. He doesn't remember exactly what happened, but he managed to escape just barely when they were getting ready to open him with some very sharp tools.
The next day, his mom cooked him breakfast 'cause she had sensed him a little down, but after yesterday's adventure, he didn't fancy eating. Still, he did. His mom hadn't made him anything since he was in freshman year. He had been willing to forget yesterday's night ever happened considering that it had happened to Phantom. His mother would never do something like that to him.
For as far as he could remember, he had always been allergic to butter, pepper, some types of leather and ginger. Despite having a list on the cupboard titled "Don't feed Danny with this" along with a list much more larger titled "Don't feed Jazz with this", his mother had served him 3 out of 4 things on that list.
It had nearly killed him.
The doctor said he had to be more conscious with what he was taking to his mouth because it was the eleventh time in his life he was hospitalized for eating something he was clearly allergic to.
Of course, his parents would blame it on him, they never took the blame.
He could forgive them if it had been Phantom, but Danny was supposed to be his son. The one they should know and try to protect. If it wasn't the food, it was some testing accident or mistake that brought him back to the hospital.
Danny wasn't going to let his daughter live in the human world as long as he didn't have a place of his own. Away from his parents.
Of course, he would still visit them, he didn't hate them. He couldn't simply erase the memories of her mother patching him up after a fight broke in elementary school, or his father riding the roller coaster so Danny wouldn't be afraid of them anymore. He knew they loved him, in their own way. But knew too that he deserved better. He cared for them... just not as much as a kid should care about their parents — he felt bittersweet about them.
"Dad!" he was shaken by his daughter still on her pyjamas. "You need to eat before going with the humans!"
He smiled faintly, he certainly will miss her. "I'm up."

"Humans!" Danette yelled at them. "Form two lines, now!"
It was evident that yesterday's incident made the humans scared of her because the scrambled in his feet until everyone was lined up.
Prior to the gathering in the main hall, Danny had requested his daughter to make the proper explanations to the humans and to make sure they passed the portal safely. Heirs born from the 10th generation of a dynasty and up inherited the ability to open portals to the human world, the ones that ruled before them had to limit themselves to using the Royal Portal. Only the one withholding the throne could access them though, so when the humans got distracted he slipped from their side and touched the door of the portal. It opened instantly into the nightly view of Amity Park.
All of his classmates passed along with parents and Mr Lancer before he stepped on the other side of the portal, locking it from the other side.
That's when he membered that Earth and the Ghost Zone had similar time zones.
How could it be nighttime here when they just had finished breakfast over there?
