A voice spoke- the doctor who took her in. The one who made her mutation happen.
"Let me help you..."
Nico agreed.
Then a dark room, and a deep voice.
"I will make sure you feel all the pain in the world."
"No!" Nico screamed in pain.
Now it was a different voice, her mother.
"You have no purpose. You are useless, child."
A loud smack, and Nico was sitting in the centre of her childhood living room, clutching her cheek. Her mothers figure disappeared and she was suddenly in the training room with Steve Rogers.
"Work harder!" He said, flipping her over.
Nico was frustrated. "I'm working pretty damn hard, Cap!"
"Well you aren't working hard enough!"
Now she was in the avengers tower, sitting on the couch- laughing at a random thing that Homer Simpson did. Loki walked in, the rest of the avengers walking in behind him. They're faces were grim and she paled. Loki was holding a notebook that she immediately recognized.

"Nico, What is this?"

Nico woke up in cold sweat, like every morning. She dreaded going to sleep but yesterday her eyes closed so willingly. Her nightmares were never 'fake memories.' They were oh-so-very real. Very real memories, from her past. She would just relive them in her sleep. She sighed, getting up and stretching.

Nico spent her last 10 months living in her apartment unemployed, living her life the same everyday. She still had a shit ton of money from what she got from the avengers.

New things happened every now and then, like yesterday when she met Eddie Brock, and when she threw Wade from out the window. Not to mention the whole 'play a guitar with strings made of your vocal chords' thing.

She walked over to the coffee maker after leaving her room and made a cup of coffee, and while that was being poured into her cup via the coffee maker, she went to the bathroom to get ready for her boring day.

She brushed her teeth quickly, and changed into some sweatpants and a random oversized dark green shirt. She then applied some chap-stick, and walked over to her cup of coffee that was waiting for her.

"Hellloo." She said to the cup, bringing it up to her lips and taking a long sip. She sighed, the taste was just right. Plain dark coffee is her favorite, its also the best type of coffee to dump on people. (In her opinion.)

"Reruns of the Simpsons.. or harry potter?" She mumbled as she flipped through the channels. "There's always spongebob.." She added.

She sighed, turning off the TV. She decided to start writing again, so she got up and sat at the small table, opening her notebook.

Her entries usually consisted of her thoughts, like what she was craving that day and little mini stories she would think of. She had a lot going through her mind so she decided to write whatever came first when she thought.

She got bored fast and closed her notebook. Job hunting. She hadn't done that yet, so she decided to look online.

After searching for a few minutes, she couldn't find anything interesting and she groaned, closing her laptop

After searching for a few minutes, she couldn't find anything interesting and she groaned, closing her laptop. "This.. is pointless." She muttered. "I need friends." She sighed, looking up. She began to sing the alphabet, but in a different tune and less cheery.

She sighed again, after she was done serenading herself and got up. It was like a lightbulb turned on in her brain.

"Eddie Brock!" She exclaimed, grabbing her phone and apartment keys. She quickly left her apartment after locking her door and such, and she reached Eddies apartment in about 5 seconds, as it wasn't far away. She knocked politely, trying to quickly go over how to make friends in her head.

'Be nice, be polite, be patient, be calm, remember that they aren't like wade- don't throw them out the window.. smile, don't forget to smile. Don't let them in so easily.' She reminded herself in her head, as she waited for someone to answer.

Finally, someone opened the door. Eddie smiled briefly after looking confused. "Nico- hey." He said, waving for three seconds.

Nico smiled slightly, "hi. So I don't.. uh have friends, and I was just wondering if I can try to be friends with you?" She asked, almost confidently.

Eddie looked shocked for a second before completely wiping that look off his face, replacing it with a look of calmness.

"Sure, come in.." he said, opening the door wider and stepping aside to let her in.

"Thanks." She mumbled, going inside. 'Woohoo! I'm in!' She thought, dancing in her head.

"You can just sit on the couch or something... I was just watching TV." Eddie says, closing the door.

Nico nods and walks over to the couch, sitting on the squeaky sofa. "So.. no friends, huh?" Eddie asked, sitting next to her.

Nico shook her head, "I used to, they messed up so I don't associate with them anymore." She answered.

Eddie nodded, "Don't worry, I don't have any that I talk to now, too."

Eddie cleared his throat, as he woke up twenty minutes before Nico came over and he didn't want to speak with his morning voice. "So.. who was that at your place, that day? Uh the guy in the red suit." Eddie asked, curious.

"My brother." Nico answered, not wanting to explain the whole 'you are now my sister and no one will harm you' thing that Wade did.

"a-and you've been single for 3 years?" He asked, still curious.

"5 years. I mean, I did have this guy who was kind of my boyfriend but he never.. asked me? So I don't think I'm gonna uh, count that as a boyfriend." Nico answered, "what about you, eddie? How long have you been single?"

"About 8.. maybe 10 months." Eddie answered, scratching his chin. "Not as long as you, but I had uhh.. a fiancée, and we broke it off. She talks to me sometimes but she has a boyfriend now. Well- she's had a boyfriend for about a few months now but.. ya know." Eddie responded.

"Well.. you don't need her." Nico responded, "I mean, maybe you think you do but you seem fine to me." She said, "what do you do for a living?" She asked.

"I have a show... I interview people and stuff." Eddie said and when Nico looked confused, he spoke. "you haven't seen it, I'm guessing." She shook her head and Eddie then looked at her confused. "You read the paper?" He asked.

"I read books. Not the news, it's depressing most of the time." Nico explained. She didn't mention that the news sometimes carried information and pictures of the avengers.

"You watch TV?" He questioned.

Nico shrugged, "only movies and cartoons. I have Netflix for most things." She responded.

"You really are something." Eddie chuckled. "What do you do for a living?" He asked.

Nico shrugged, "I don't do anything. I'm job huntin' and everything seems boring. My last job set high expectations." She answered.

"What was your last job?" He asked.

"Saving the world." Nico grinned.

Eddie laughed, thinking she was joking. "okay.. I can help you look for a job?" He offered, pointing to his laptop.

Nico shrugged, "Sure, why not?"
