She disconnected to piece so she could fit it around my neck.

"You know how special this is to me, my mother gave it to me before she passed and I've had it ever since.

Your mother nor sister is worthy enough to have it. I figured you'd keep it safe while I'm gone.." 

The way she spoke about herself caused tears to build in my eyes.

I pushed my hair on the side so she could connect to necklace together.

"I'm dying Rosa.. I feel it. .." She sighed.

A tear rolled down my eye. "Abuela stop it."

"I wouldn't say something if I knew it weren't true."

There was a silence.

She held my hand as I sat in the bed. "You were born into a family that may not care to understand you, but I promise one day you'll find someone who will."

I hugged and kissed her knowing this would be the last time I'd see my grandmother.
