The Synthetic Highschool

Chapter 1

“Hey, Lilith, can you buy me a soda?” said the soda addicted person named Matt. 
“ No,” she replied. “I think you already have way too much caffeine in your system.”
“Of course I do, how do you think I get through history?”
“ I agree that history is boring, but you’re going to die. You’re going to die, Matt.”
    At Queens high school, almost everybody had something abnormal or quirky about them. But they weren’t just mentally weird. They had something dangerous, lurking inside them. Or to put it plainly, they were all a little… err kooky, you know off their rocker.
“ I refuse to buy you a soda,” Lilith said firmly. “ Plus, I’m just as broke as you. You know my money is for emergencies and ice cream only.”
“Oh look,” Matt said, “The ice cream truck,”
“Wow, you think I would fall for one of your tricks? Well, I already bought an ice cream today! I have literally no money whatsoever!” she said. To punctuate their fight, the bell rung.
“Well, we better get to class. I guess I don’t get ice cream, and you don’t get soda. We’re even.”           
“Hey,” Matt whispered to her, about-to-fall-asleep. “Have you noticed that everyday, our history teacher says the exact same words, for the exact same lesson, in the exact same tone, like a recording?”
“Huh? No, he doesn’t. You’re imagining things. Must be all that soda. It’s making you hallucinate.” Lilith said. There was something off about her voice, as if she didn’t really believe what she had just said.
“I am not sure if I get this lesson, we should stop by after school to see if he can explain.”
“Are you serious? No one visits him after school. It’s social suicide,” said Lilith.
“But since when do you care what other people think about you,” Matt replied, wondering what was wrong with his friend.
Matt said persuasively, “Plus, there might be ice cream involved,”
“No!” Lilith said, shaking her head. “I can’t. I CAN’T.”
