It was the middle of the night. Matt sighed, It would be better to do this with company. Now he was alone, and frankly, a little scared. He walked down the empty linoleum halls of the deserted school. He hoped that his history teacher would be there. He heard voices coming from the slightly ajar door.
¨ Hey, I see the problem, his tape was loopin¨, said one voice.
¨I hope that the test subjects didn't notice. The boss would kill us if he found out,¨ said another. They were coming from two men, who from the sounds of it, were about thirty years of age. He gathered the nerve to peer through the crack in the door. He gasped, the two men who he heard were taking apart a humanoid robot who looked like… His history teacher! Terrified by what he saw, he tried to sneak away, oh great, the sole of his shoe scraped against the shiny floors, SQUEAK . He ran away, trying to escape. He heard footsteps behind him. He turned a corner and thought of where to hide. Of course, the lockers! He opened one and hid inside. He heard the voices conversing.
¨Ẃhat was that?¨ said one of the workers.
¨I don't know, but if it's one of the test subjects, the boss would kill us. Let's look.¨
¨Come out, come out, wherever you are¨, said the voices. They were opening lockers! Suddenly, Matt had an idea. He reached in his backpack and took out a bottle of Sprite. He shook it until it threatened to burst open. Suddenly, he opened the locker door and sprayed the soda in there faces. Utilizing this distraction, he ran straight home.
The next day, Lilith felt strangely ill. She walked to school anyway, but she didn't always participate like she usually did. Something about what Matt had said bothered her. It made her feel gross, like something was crawling inside her. She decided to skip out on lunch. A few hours later, her mind felt clearer. The crawling sensation disappeared. She felt lighter, more free. Her vision was sharp, her movements faster than before. She had tried to avoid Matt, but she encountered him in the hallway.
¨Thanks, for nothing¨, he said, with that twinge in his voice like he wanted to tell her something but couldn´t.
Lilith attempted to say something, but her head felt light. She just ended up opening her mouth before passing out.
