Matt's Point of View (Raises more questions than answers)
Matt had taken the plane all the way across the East Coast just to get here... Riker's Island. He went on the ferry and then went through a completely inefficient metal detector that by the looks of it, probably didn't even sense carbon fiber weapons. Matt went to MIT now and was studying these sorts of things. He felt uneasy realizing that these faulty security systems were this place's only defense against the criminal mastermind housed here: Dr. Devon Alastor. Just three years ago, he had escaped from his twisted experiment and began to live in the "real" world. He had grown accustomed to it. He passed by many security guards who most likely did not have an IQ over forty. As he got closer to the doctor's cell, his stomach tied into more knots than the Santa Monica Maritime Museum. He remembered the suave voice that haunted him in his dreams. He was confronted by a deep gruff,
"What are you doing here, Male Specimen 54?" Even though Matt was usually good at maneuvering through tough conversations, but the way the doctor addressed him caught him off guard. All he could muster up was,
"So... fish are weird, huh.".
He laughed.
"Can't believe you, of all people, foiled my plans.", he, trying to ease the awkwardness of talking to someone who's life he had ruined.
"Look," Matt said, cutting straight to the point, "Despite what a heck of a welcoming party I'm sure you can throw, I didn't come here for small talk. I wanted to ask you, how did you come across me."
"Well what exactly do you mean?" he inquired, shifting his body to stare at Matt. "Well, how did you take me from my mom and dad when I was little?",Matt said, uneasily.
"Well Matt...",said Dr. Devon, "I wouldn't dare take a child from anybody.", he said calmly.
"You mean... I'm... your... DUN DUN DUUN!
Lilith's Point of View
Lilith was a little nervous, finally going home. Over three years and over hundreds of therapy sessions, she was only now ready to face the city that she had suffered for fifteen years. Admittedly, she was supposed to have gone here two years ago, but she couldn't work up the courage to do so. She went into the hospital that she had once had to escape from and checked in. It seemed smaller than she had remembered, and she realized that they must have removed the laboratory.
"Hi, I'm here to visit Madeline Dolores? She used to work here?" she asked, looking around the hospital, surprised by all the changes made here. It felt more welcome and open, not stuffy and cold like it was before.
"Oh Ms. Maddie? Sure, I'll go see if she's up for it. What's your name?" said a friendly male receptionist. "Madeline trained me, even in her crippled state. She's kinda like a hero to everyone here. She helped stop Devon Alastor's human experiments." Lilith giggled. The receptionist obviously didn't know. The guy pressed onto his headset and asked if Madeline was busy. It seemed that she wasn't, and he had a staff member lead her to Madeline's hospital room.
"Hi Ms. Madeline!" Lilith said, walking into the room.
"Lilith? What a nice surprise!" Madeline said. " How is everything?"
"It's been really good, I've started college, got a job, made friends, and...oh no. What happened to your leg?" she asked. Madeline's leg was, well, no longer present. It was replaced by a prosthetic leg.
"It got infected, and had to be cut off. The infection was already spreading too much for antibiotics to fix. But enough about me. I know you wouldn't have come for nothing."
"That's what I'm here to ask. Ms. Madeline, I've started a campaign to stop human experimentation, so that no one else would end up like me or Matt. And I'm wondering....Can you come visit the grand opening of our headquarters? It would mean a lot to me. Since I don't have parents, you're the closest I have to a mother. Could you-"
"Of course I could! I will definitely attend your opening ceremony."
"Thank you! Thank you so much! For everything." Lilith hugged Madeline, and they sat there for a long while, hugging and thinking about that day.
