Chapter 4

Alex's POV

after a long day with the schuyler sisters. im finally home. 

I see laurens sitting on the couch watching TV. without thinking, i run over and hug him with no warning. "uhh alex?" I push myself off him after realizing what i did. "oh jeez.. sorry " he giggles. "did you miss me that much?" i smile "probably" that was embarrassing. a blush dusts on both our cheeks. "how did it.. go?" he asks, i sit down beside him. "pretty well actually. she's a really nice girl" "oh.." he looks down. green eyes dulled down once again. why? "hey, john?" "yeah?" he replies. i grab his chin and make him look at me. He blushes brightly. after a few seconds, i smile at him. and just like that. those green eyes glistened again. "i like your eyes.." i say unconsciously. "really?" i let go of his chin "sorry! i'm sorry i don't know what's gotten into me." he laughs silently. "It's ok, i get like that too sometimes." he smiles up at me. 

3rd person POV  

the two boys sat on the couch watching a movie when suddenly they heard the quiet raindrops dripping on the window. Alex shivered. John noticed this. "you cold?" he sat a bit closer "i.." the rain started pouring and lightning and thunder hit not long later. Alex started crying. "alex?! hey hey it's ok.. you're safe! what's wrong?" he started to hyperventilate and john got even more worried. "alex..alex alex!!" finally, alex turned to him.. "i..i just.. its so.. my.." he was too choked up on his tears. "shh.. calm down.. " he kept crying. john was starting to run out of ideas, and in the desperation to get alex to stop crying, he started to sing. "in the eye.. of a hurricane.. " alex breathed heavily "there is quiet.." his breathing slowed "in a moment... a yellow sky.." alex looked up at him. he sniffles "when i was seventeen, a hurricane destroyed my town... i.. i couldn't seem to die.. " he says in between sobs. "it's ok.. you're safe" john wraps his arms around alex. "i.. just... couldn't die.." he cried onto john's shoulders. "i'm glad you didn't.. alexander i-" 

RING~! RING~!

It was john's phone. alexander flinches. john picks up his phone and answers the call "hey... yeah.. yeah we're fine.. eliza?  why? um ok sure.. 9 what? ok then.. yeah.. yeah.. bye.." the calmed down, it was only drizzling by this point,and alex had calmed down. "who was that?" john gulps "it was Laf, he says eliza is coming over at 9" alex sneezes "really? why?" he asks "she's worried about you, i'm guessing you told her about the..hurricane" you told her before you told me "yeah, you don't mind do you?" john shook his head "it's ok, you two would make a good couple" he said, smiling. alex looked at him with sympathy. 

'if only you knew john.. '

'but i have no idea how to tell you when we're in this situation'

john's POV 

Eliza arrives. i let her in. "hi john, long time no see" she says. "you know eachother?" Alex asks from across the room "her sister is my best friend, peggy" after i say that Eliza rus up to Alex and hugs him tight. that's what alex did to me when he walked in... "heyyy eliza" he hugs back. i walk towards them, hiding the pain behind a smile. Eliza grabs alex's cheeks and asks "are you ok? im sorry i wasnt here during the storm you must've been petrified!" alex laughs "calm down! i had some company" he looks over to me and smiles. i softly smile back. eliza kisses him on the forehead "im glad!" she says, practically in tears. these two sure had a lot of bonding time.  alex was blushing and giggling . but.. something was off about his smile. i just couldn't put my finger on it. 

Alex's POV

i'm trying to like it but damn it girl i'm just not feeling it ok? lay off! 

is what i want to say but I can't find the balls to say it infront of her. 

"alexander.. i have to tell you something.." she says. fuck. i see where this is going "Eliza i-" i'm cut off by John leaving the room "john-" i call after him. he ignores me. "alex" shit! "i love you!" lady why you gotta yell it out?!  i hear laurens' breath hitch in the other room. "eliza.." "alex.." geez .. "i don't have a dollar to my name, and acre a land, a dollop of fame-" eliza placas a finger on my lips "i don't care" her eyes are shining. but they don't compare to.. "eliza i-" and just like that. she presses her lips against mine, I flinch violently as she continued to kiss me.after a few seconds,  i hesitantly kiss back. ok. i don't know what i'm doing  but. i'll probably learn to love her in time. my crush on john isn't going to go any further anyway. 

after a few seconds she pulls away smiling at me. i smile back. "so.. wanna hang here for a bit?" she nods.
