Opening the door, she was uninterested. He was probably coming back for another round of humiliation.

She walked away from the door and sat on the bed, attempting to hide her tears stains that cover her cheeks.

"What do you want, Lowman?" She heard his boots against the floor and then she saw him crouch in front of her. There was a pause. This was the first time she hadn't called him by his first name, it hurt.

"You didn't let me answer." He was calm, like nothing was wrong and she wasn't in near tears.

She laughed bitterly. "You didn't exactly stop me." Silence. "Look if you're not g-" She was cut off by his lips connecting with hers. She was conflicted but kissed back, her hands cupping his face. It felt so right, just like that night.

The kiss was enchanting, he was an amazing kisser. They moved in a way that made you forget who you were and live in that moment.

Chests heaving and out of breath, Em realised what just happened. He kissed her, and she let him. Eyes trained to the floor, she broke the silence.

"What does this mean?" She breathed out, her heart going a-mile-a-minute. She never thought that this would happen; Happy wasn't this sort of guy but here he was seeking to make eye contact.

"I like you, little girl." Voice harsh like gravel, scraping away all of her doubts that once controlled her mind.

She didn't know how to reply, of course she liked him too. Christ she nearly melts when she sees him but there was something holding her back. She knew what it was, the nagging in the back of her mind.

'He's just like the rest'

'Use you and throw you away'

'Leave while you still can'

Em was torn, the feeling in the pit of her stomach told her no and her heart bellowed yes. She needed time.

All the while as she sat silent, Happy perceived it as dismissal. Having never had someone say no to him, other than his mother, he couldn't control Em's coldness. He backed away, getting off his knees and faced the opposite wall, callused skin rubbing over his face viciously. Just as he was about to leave, he heard her voice.

"I like you to but... can you just give me some time." She didn't want to push him away yet she couldn't find it in herself to let him in. It was Happy's turn to resurrect the silence, staring at her feeble body hunched over herself. There was more to it than what she was letting on, Happy knew that, nonetheless he didn't push her to speak. Simply nodding his head and leaving back to his bike.

Listening to the door harshly fall back into lock, Em returned to her previous state. How could she accept someone when she can barley accept herself?

Over the next few days, she hid out in her motel room, having paid for the extra few when Happy left. She was trying to come to terms with everything but it felt like putting together a 1000 piece puzzle.

The buzzing from her phone made her thought bubble burst. Filip. She exhaled and answered. Filip was the one man she couldn't keep out, even when on the road for years she still came back to him.

"You really should get some fresh air, lass." He was worried. Knowing why she done what she did helped him a little bit to see what's going on in her mind, but at the same time she was pushing away the wrong thing.

"I'm fine, I just need some time Lip." Groaning at the old nickname, he decided to change the subject and get straight to the point.

"I know what you're doing, lass, but I promise you that you can let him in. Trust me." Voice whispering and soft, she nodded, wrapping the duvet further around her body. She knew that she could trust him, and even though she would never admit it, he was usually right.

"Fine." looking at the clock she noticed that it was only two in the afternoon, throwing herself onto her back, she continued. "I'll be at the clubhouse later.."
