Japanese Language Lessons - 4 Verbs (Nomimasu, Tabemasu, Mimasu, Kikimasu) - Japanese Lesson 5 (p.1 of 2)
For lesson 5, we will be studying 4 verbs which you can usually use. These are:
Nomimasu - to drink
Tabemasu - to eat
Mimasu - to see/watch
Kikimasu - to hear/listen
Some of you might get confused just like me, in dictionary, you will find nomu, taberu, miru, and kiku. The masu form is the polite tense of these verbs.
Of course, these verbs like ikimasu (discussed on Lesson 4) have past, negative, and past negative form.
For negative form, just change masu to masen.
Those verbs would be:
Nomimasen
Tabemasen
Mimasen
Kikimasen
For past form, change masu to mashita, so those verbs would be:
Nomimasita
Tabemashita
Mimashita
Kikimashita
For the past negative form of the verb, change masu to masen deshita.
Nomimasen deshita
Tabemasen deshita
Mimasen deshita
Kikimasen deshita
