Japanese Language Lessons - Days of the Week and Days of the Month - Japanese Lesson 3 (p.1 of 1)
Days of the week
Monday - getsu youbi
Tuesday - ka youbi
Wednesday - sui youbi
Thursday - moku youbi
Friday - kin youbi
Saturday - do youbi
Sunday - nichi youbi
Days of the Month
Having knowledge of the basic counting in Japanese is a must with this one. I already discussed that on Lesson 2.
The days of the month are followed by nichi after the number. For example, 11th day of the month is juu-ichi-nichi (juu is 10 + ichi is 1 + nichi is date)
That is a little bit easy, isn't it? However, days such as first to tenth, fourth, forteenth, twentieth, and twenty-fourth are little complicated. Let's see.
1 - tsuitachi
2 - futsuka pronounced as futska
3 - mikka
4 - yokka
5 - itsuka pronounced as itska
6 - muika
7 - nanoka
8 - youka (long yo sound)
9 - kokonoka
10 - tooka
14 - juu-yokka
20 - hatsuka pronounced as hatska
24 - ni-juu-yokka
