Let me give you some words.
Keeki - (long sound of ke) cake
Tokei - (pronounced as toke) watch
Boorupen - ballpen
Hon - book
I will give Mary a book tomorrow.
(Watashi wa) ashita Mary san ni hon o agemasu.
The watashi wa can be omitted since the subject is I, it's understood.
The particle ni can be translated as to when indicating a destination.
What if the subject isn't me, it's Tanaka?
Tanaka san wa ashita Mary san ni hon o agemasu.
Tanaka gave Mary a watch yesterday.
Tanaka san wa kinoo Mary san ni tokei o agemashita.
Let's say Tanaka is generous that he gave an expensive watch to Mary. The Japanese word for expensive is takai.
Tanaka san wa kinoo Mary san ni takai tokei o agemashita.
What if Tanaka didn't give Mary a watch?
Tanaka san wa kinoo Mary san ni takai tokei o agemasen deshita.
Get it? It's quite easy. Let's have another sentence.
Tanaka gave Mary a cake the day before yesterday.
Tanaka san wa ototoi Mary san ni keeki o agemashita.
Tanaka san didn't just give an ordinary cake, it's a delicious one. The Japanese word for delicious is oishii.
Tanaka san wa ototoi Mary san ni oishii keeki o agemashita.
Now, let's make that sentence in Mary's point of view.
Mary received a cake from Tanaka the day before yesterday.
Mary san wa ototoi Tanaka san ni oshii keki o moraimashita.
Yes, that's right. You can also use the particle ni to indicate the source. It can also be translated into by or from.
Tanaka will give Mary a ballpen today.
Tanaka san wa kyou Mary san ni boorupen o agemasu.
Mary will receive a ballpen from Tanaka today.
Mary san wa kyou Tanaka san ni boorupen o agemasu.
That's all for Lesson 7. Always remember that practicing is a big help for you to learn. I hope I helped you a lot. :)
