Chapter 3

Sarah's parents greeted me when we entered their house.I stayed with them to take care of Sarah.Funny though, I was worried, although I know that everything's gonna be alright.although I know that she's slowly turning into a vampire.I'm already a vampire.

"What a great birthday present.Seeing my best friend lying unconscious in her bed."I just opened the conversation to lessen their worries.

"Sorry I didn't greet you earlier James.I didn't know that it's your birthday today.How old are you?"asked Mr. Tadeo.

"That's alright sir.I'm already fifteen."I answered.

Silence.

"She'll turn fifteen next month."Mrs. Tadeo said while holding Sarah's cold hands."I'll get some warm water."

She's not really physically transforming,but I can't smell her blood anymore.I can't feel her warmth.It's like she became cold ice from a warm milk.

Milk.She's turning as white as milk. Pale.The exact word to describe her.

What have I done?Is she dying?No.I can feel her presence.

Her parents let me sleep in their house because they can see that I'm also worried.I slept beside her and waited for her to wake up.I want to be the first thing she'll see in the morning.

The next morning, I was awakened by her moans.I opened my eyes and saw her moving.I woke up and hold her hand.

"Sarah.Wake up.It's me, James.Open your eyes Sarah.Please.Open your eyes."

"James?...What, what happened?...My neck...I'm..."

"Sshh...It's alright now.Someone attacked you last night.We didn't see who it was.Are you feeling okay now?,.''

"I feel weak.I feel thirsty.I smell blood from somewhere.i don't know why, but something inside me wants to follow the smell and drink blood.I feel so weird James.I feel strange."

I was about to panic with what she said when my parents suddenly entered.

" It's good that you're awake, my dear.Are you alright?"my mom asked her.

She looked at me with a question in her eyes.I knew she was asking me if she should tell them.I refused.

"I'm fine now Mrs. De Guzman.James has been watching over me."

"If you want something just tell him.We have to go now.We just want to make sure that you're fine."dad said.

They went away.Then Sarah's parents entered the room.She reacted.I know that she smelled them.She smelled blood.I stopped her before she tried to stand.

"Are you okay my dear?Are you feeling well now?We were so worried!What happened?"asked Mrs. Tadeo.

Although she was feeling something strange, she still answered.

"I'm fine mom.I don't know what happened.What I remember is, I was walking towards the door when somebody grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth.Then I felt something in my neck.Then, I fainted."

"We better report this to the police.That person might attack someone else.Or he might return if he finds out that you're alright."

"Is it okay if we leave you here James?"they asked.

"Yes Mrs. Tadeo.I'd be happy to take care of Sarah.Just bring home something for her to eat."

They left.Now it's me and her again.

"I really feel something wrong.When your parents entered, there was nothing.But when my parents entered, i smelled blood.I felt their warmth as though it's something that burns me.I felt an urge to bite them.What's happening to me James?What's happening to me?"
