Outline of story- Virgil is trans (ftm) and is getting top surgery

I had been waiting for this day for years. This was the day I was going to get top surgery. I had been on testosterone for 3 years and 7 months, the only thing left was to get this surgery.

I was waiting in the waiting rooms with my boyfriend, Roman, for just a few minutes before a nurse called my name and led us through a maze of hallways before stopping at a baby blue door and leading me inside. She told roman that he'd have to wait outside while I got ready for the surgery and he nodded in reply, retreating to one of the many rows of uncomfortable chairs.

I stepped up to the plain white bed, taking a hold of the hospital gown that was laid out for me, slowly changing into it and setting  my other clothes neatly onto a nearby chair. The nurse cane in a few minutes later to check up on me, by that time, I was sitting upright in the bed. She called roman in and closed the door to give us some privacy.

'I can't believe it's really happening,' I whispered 'I've been waiting for this for so long,' I started to cry, not even trying to hold back the tears as the cascaded down my cheeks.

'I know, everything's going to be okay,' he replied, pulling me into a tight hug and stroking my hair in an attempt to calm me down, 'I'll be here the moment you wake up. I promise.' He continued to talk to me and reassured me that everything was going to be alright before the surgeon came in to take me away. He explained what was going to happen and guaranteed that it was going to be fine.

After what seemed like years of waiting, the nurse came in, ready to put me under, using the anaesthetic. As she got everything ready, I kept a tight grip on Romans' hand as he rubbed circles on the back of it to soothe me.

Soon enough, the nurse put the mask on me and I took on more look at roman before my hand went limp in his and I was succumbed into the world of darkness.
