Your P.O.V

MY SHARP GLARE BURNED across the room, reaching none other than Prudence Night. Because she had been thankfully forced to stop Harrowing witches, she had decided on a new form of cruelty: old fashioned bullying, especially because not only was I new to the Academy of Unseen Arts, but I also happened to be half witch and half angel.

"You know she's just trying to provoke you," Sabrina once again attempted to calm me down. "You need to focus on your test today. You know how important it is for you pass." She added convincingly.

I sighed and raked my hand through my hair, deciding to let it go once again. Apparently when you show you don't care, you get picked on less often but that doesn't seem to be working for me. Sabrina was right though, I had more important things to focus on. This test is incredibly important to me and I wasn't going to let anything get in the way of my focus on it; I could yell at Prudence when I've finished it.

"Okay," I nodded in forbearance. I was doing this for myself, not for Prudence.

"Let's go prepare, okay?" Sabrina smiled sympathetically. "We have an hour and a half before Witchcraft Studies starts and we have the test."

I took a seat in the second row, Sabrina was seated at the desk beside me. Glancing at her with nothing but anxiousness spread across my face, I hoped that I'd do well. I had been studying so hard and I couldn't afford to fail this test. This is the one thing that could make or break my future at this academy so failing wasn't an option.

I bit my lip as I looked at the front side of the test with the criteria, reading them over and over, each time panicking me more. I took in a deep breath and picked up my black pen.

As soon as our teacher declared it was time for us to begin, my pen hit the test paper and I began writing.

I felt confident throughout the first half of the test and with only thirty minutes left to write, I was sure I would finish on time. But I guess I let the confidence get to me too soon because as soon as I did, I suddenly had no clue what I was writing.

It was as though my hand had a mind of its own, going against everything my brain was telling it to do. I dropped my pen abruptly, fear building up within me. I inhaled deeply before picking it up again, only to let it go another time because my hand was still going against my will, writing lines of endless nonsense. These were questions I knew; questions I had answers to. They were related to exorcisms and incantations and I knew I was able to answer them correctly because I studied so hard, but I couldn't write anything I wanted to.

I picked the pen up with my left hand to see that this didn't comply either. Before I knew it, class was over and I had to turn in my only half-finished exam.

My hands were shaking as I exited the room, the anxiousness I had managed to overcome had once against returned because I knew that I wasn't going to get the grade I wanted from the incomplete test. I just didn't understand why I couldn't write properly.

Sabrina had been following behind me, her hand on my shoulder, knowing that something was wrong.

Before I could turn around to freak out about what just happened and find a solution, Prudence appeared beside the doorframe, a smug look on her face.

"Get a little carried away with your writing, huh, Y/N?" She smirked, and all I could think about was how it had to have been Prudence who did that.

"Did you hex me?" I sneered, my eyes showing nothing but anger.

"Relax, it was just a joke."

"No, Produce." I hissed. "It isn't a joke. And it isn't funny."

"Calm down." She chuckled.

I could not believe the audacity.

"Do you know what you just cost me?" Standing for myself for once, I pushed on her chest with the tip of my fingers despite her being a bit taller than me.

She seemed shocked at my sudden outburst. All these weeks of her tormenting me, I hadn't said a thing, but I finally reached my limit and I guess she was surprised. I frankly couldn't care less.

"Do you know how hard I work? Do you know how much effort I put into doing well at school?" My eyes filled with tears, more angry than upset though. "I've made so many friends and I was doing so well and now because of you I'm going to be kicked out, Prudence!"

"Y/N..." She looked at me, almost surprised. Somewhat guilty. I didn't let her speak.

"You make fun of me for being half witch and half angel but you have know idea how much I already go through because of it. I love it here and my staying at this academy was completely dependent on weather I pass the next two exams."

"Y/N."

"No, I'm done hearing your shit!"

"For the love of Lucifer, Y/N. Just shut up and let me speak."

I was about to fire back a witty comment only to be stopped when she continued speaking.

"I'll talk to Father Blackwood and get him to give you another chance, okay?" She said. It seemed like she was trying to hide the sympathy she was feeling.

I was too tired to be angry. I wore myself out studying and with that test and I just didn't have the energy to continue lecturing. I wiped my eyes with my sleeves and walked away, hoping that Prudence would keep her promise.

"And Y/N," she spoke up.

I sighed, turning around.

"I didn't realize how important this was," she mumbled, and the next few words were barely audible but meaningful considering they came out of Prudence Night's mouth. "I'm sorry."
