Draco's pov.
I was excited to come back to school mostly to see Margret after the Christmas I had. My mother insisted I get her a small gift to get her to like me so I got her a small box of sweets thinking she might like them. At dinner the first night back I sit next to her and she had a small blush on her face as she plays with something on her left wrist. Before I left she had baggy cloths that didn't fit her right and looked old, ratty even but now she had on a nice black sweater that had silver on the sleeves as well as the bottom edges. She was even wearing jeans that fit her perfectly. "How was your Christmas Margret?" I ask as I look over at her and her smile falls a little as she looks over at me. She fumbles around for her notebook before writing slowly in it. It was times like these I wished she could talk. I even told my parents about her being mute and they said that was good because then she would never betray me. It was good. How was yours Draco? I read over her note quickly and now that she had her hand up I could see a small charm bracelet on her left wrist. "It was good. I spent some time flying and such." I say and she furrows her brows a cute confused expression on her face as she looks me over. That sounds sad and lonely. Did this mean she cared about me? When we were done eating I walk next to her to the common room. Margret spent very little time in here but for tonight she was more than content to follow me to our common room and sit in front of the fire place.
"Who gave you that?" I ask as I take a small owl charm between my fingers looking it over. My father. I got to meet him for the first time this year. She nervously played with her note book and before I have a chance to say anything else Pansy walks over swaying her hips in an attempt to be attractive. "Draco how was your Christmas love?" She asks as she leans over caging me in and she had a sickly sweet smile on her face. "It was great, the best I ever had." I say before looking back at Margret who was now looking away from us and into the fire as if she wished it would take her away. "I was thinking we could go for a nice walk." Pansy says and I scowl at her before pushing her shoulder gently. "Not right now Pansy I have somethings to talk about with Margret." I say and at the mention of her name Margret looks over at us then points to herself a confused look on her face. "Ohh hello Margret." Pansy says a sneer on her face and in that moment I knew she was ugly inside and out. "Pansy just go away." I snap at her and she nods before walking away and Margret looks up at me with a fear filled look. You could have gone on a walk with her. I wouldn't have minded. I shake my head at her note before pushing the notebook down so my hand was resting on hers. "I want to spend time talking with you. That reminds me I got you something for Christmas." I say before handing her the small box of sweets. Margret looks the box over slowly before she opens it and her eyes light up. She holds out the open box to me and I take a chocolate frog out of it. She pulls out a chocolate wand and places it in her mouth, her eyes going wide as it melts in her mouth.
Thank you Draco. She shows me the note before putting the lid on the box before standing. "Where are you going?" I ask panicking a little. To bed, I'm really tired. I nod and she leaves me sitting there thinking. The next morning at breakfast I didn't see Margret and it wasn't until our first class that I saw her. She was sitting at her normal place int he front of the class but something about her seamed different. At the end of class I watch her run off to the next and by lunch time she had disappeared once again. I head to Snape's office to ask him about her but I could hear him talking to someone in there. "We will start with something simple." Snape says and there was silence that met him making me think of only one person. I knock on the office door and soon it opens to let me see both Snape and Margret in there. "Mr. Malfoy is there something wrong?" Snape asks and Margret holds up a note. I'll be back later Professor Snape. I should go eat something. Snape reads it over quickly before nodding his head and she rushes past me. "Sir I need help." I say and he scowls a little before letting me into his office and I sit in the chair Margret had just been in.
