White walls. Colorless. Lifeless.
The smell of rubbing alcohol clinging to every surface in the building. It made you nauseous.
You didn't belong here, not in a place like this. You stared at the white slippers on your feet as one of the attendants led you down an empty hall, coming to a halt in front of a white metal door. You lifted your head, watching as the attendant unlocked it, your gaze falling back down to your feet.
"Get in there." He spoke in a gruff voice.
You shambled into the small room, the door slamming shut behind you. The faint click of the lock, signified that you were now trapped inside. Why were you there? How did you even get there? Did you do something bad? You couldn't recall anything. In fact, you'd always been an upstanding citizen and never got in trouble. So, why were you in a mental hospital?
I'm not crazy, am I?"Hi." Someone spoke up, pulling you from your stupor.
Turning towards the voice, you were met with a rather handsome man sitting on the bed across from yours.
"Hi."
"Do you hear them too?" He asked.
"Hear what?" You furrowed your brows.
"The voices."
"Um. No. Sorry."
"Ah. Just me then. I'm Namjoon, by the way." He walked over and held his hand out.
"Y/n." You grasped his hand, giving it a light shake in greeting.
"Mind if I sit?" He asked.
"Go ahead."
He dropped down onto the mattress, sitting a little too close for comfort.
"So, what brings you here?"
"I'm not sure." You responded, looking around the monochromatic room.
"You don't know?"
You shook your head. "How did you get in here?"
"I hear voices."
"Ah." You nodded. "I should've known."
"They tell me things." He added.
"Oh."
That's a little creepy. You thought.
"My parents tried putting me on meds but it didn't work. Eventually I had to be put in here."
"Isn't it weird to hear voices?" You inquired.
The idea of hearing random voices in your head without any control over it scared you.
"No. I don't hear them all the time. I'm not crazy, I swear. The voices don't tell me to do bad things. I'm not gonna go kill somebody."
You felt somewhat relieved to hear that. Whenever you heard about someone hearing voices it's usually some serial killer on TV."So, what kinds of things do these voices tell you?"
"Do you really want to know?"
You nodded.
There was nothing better to do, plus this guy had piqued your interest.
"Well, right now they're telling me to kiss you."
"W-What?" Your eyes widened.
He started laughing, somehow finding amusement in the situation.
"Don't worry. I'm not gonna do it... unless you want me to." He pulled his bottom lip between his teeth, his sharp eyes staring into yours.
"We just met."
"Right." He chuckled awkwardly.A palpable awkwardness settled in the air, making the atmosphere stiff and unpleasant. Your fingers unconsciously fiddled with the sleeves of your gray sweatshirt.
"So, how long have you been here?" You spoke up, cutting through the awkward air.
"A few months. I gotta say, it's nice to finally have a roommate." He grinned, showing off the most adorable set of dimples you had ever seen.
The door to the room opened abruptly, causing you to snap your head towards it.
"Time for lunch." The staff member announced shortly.
