*John POV*

"Please, you have to let me out."

"We can't do that until your release papers are signed."

"Please. I...I need to get home."

The nurse shakes her head, gently ahutting my door and walking away. I sit down hard, standing back up after a few minutes of frustrated silence. No one comes, not after an hour. Two. Three. Four. Silence.

"Fucking hell..."

I start pacing, trying to avoid looking at the padded walls of my room. Five hours. Six. Seven. More silence. Its too quiet, only sounds are my muffled footsteps and the soft sound of my ragged breathing. The door opens suddenly, metal of the lock dragging loudly against the inside of the mechanism as the key clicks softly.

"Good evening Mr. Watson."

"Its John."

"I brought you food."

"So?"

"I thought you might want to eat some of it before I bring you your medications."

I turn my back to the woman, not missing the condescending tone in her voice. Laced with sarcasm. She leaves after about ten minutes, taking the plastic tray with her. Seconds turn to minutes. Minutes to hours. Hours dragging on slowly as I struggle with the piercing pain of utter silence. One. Two. Three. The door opens.

"Please come get your medications."

I start laughing, a wide grin spreading over my face.

"You...you think that shit is going to help me? And I'm...I'm the one in a padded room."

The nurse backs up slowly, closing my door and calling someone on her radio for assistance. I keep laughing, sides hurting as I all but stop breathing. They manage to pin me down, practically forcing me to take the medication. I manage to scratch someone, drawing blood as I drag my nails down her face, before they manage to inject a sedative that calms me within minutes. The door closes again, final outside interaction for the next eight hours. One, two, three before I finally lie down. Four, five, six before I close my eyes. Seven and I'm up again, trying to find something sharp enough to kill myself with. Eight and the door opens, my morning meal.

"Good morning."

"Fuck off."

"How did you sleep?"

"I said fuck off."

The doctor smiles at me, clearly getting irritated with me.

"Please, its time for you to eat something."

I walk over, looking down at the tray of food before turning away and walking back to my corner.
