QOTC: Do you trust this woman, or does she seem a little suspicious?
---------------------------------------------
It took 5 minutes in the dark until the woman came down again.
"Ok, they're gone, you can come out now," she whispered, making me feel uneasy. If they were gone why would she be whipsering? In fact, everything about this woman made me feel uneasy.
The light flickers on and I slowly crawl out. Raven and Swift do the same.
"Don't worry," said the woman, raising her voice a little bit, "Don't be scared."
I stand up, and the others do as well.
"So," the woman said, "why do those people want you so bad?"
"Because they're bad people," I reply, "and were innocent lives."
"What are your names?" the woman asked.
Oh geez we didn't give each other fake names. We didn't think we'd be asked that.
"I'm Joey, or Joesph," Raven said. A regular name, I'm glad he picked it.
"I'm Sarah," Swift replied. So close to her name, but still regular.
I think, then reply, "And I'm Caitlyn."
The woman nodded, "And I'm Rebecca Wenc, but you can call me Becky."
Mrs. Wenc it is. I will never get close to her to have a bond to call her Rebecca or Becky.
"Nice to meet you," Raven said.
"Come on upstairs," Mrs. Wenc said, gesturing us to follow her.
"Just give us a minute," I say. She nods and climbs up the wooden stairs.
I look at Raven, "Night vision, huh?"
He smiles and nods, "Ya, I guess."
"We need to careful around her," Swift said, "she seems nice, but out here it's hard to trust anyone. She makes me feel odd."
Raven and I nod, "Tell me about it."
"Let's go," Raven said, starting to head over to the stairs, "We don't want her being suspicious."
Swift and I follow him, and Swift whispers to me, "Plus, 4010, 5226, and 7890? That's crazy!"
I nod as the light hits me hard. I blink black spots out of my eyes until I can completely see.
We didn't notice the house before we came into it, but now that we had time to observe it, it was a very suitable house.
It seemed tiny, but once out of the floor in the ground, it seemed much bigger. I relaxed my tense muscles, but not all the way. I memorized all ways out. There was a front and back door, and windows just about everywhere. Good. Escape routes everywhere.
I looked at the carpet, some speaks of brown and red were on it. Then I realized, it was from us. One run in the woods and bare feet gets so dirty and cut up.
"Oh," I yelp, Swift and Raven stared at me, "We're getting your carpet dirty."
"And bloody," Swift added.
Mrs. Wenc came to look, then smiled, "Oh that's fine," then looking at me, "Oh dear! We should bandage you up!"
Oh right. I forgot all about my glass cut. I stare at it. It was deeper than I thought it was and was still bleeding. The long sleeve of my jacket was wet and darkened. I'm surprised I barely noticed it. Raven was right. His cuts were minor, but this was bad.
