I laughed and hugged Mykie again. Mykie was a complete and utter goofball.

I heard Neptune meow sadly from his pet carrier. I laughed softly and put Mykie on the couch as I stood up.

"Here you go, Neptune." I cooed to Neptune as I opened his crate. He happily jumped out and rubbed against my ankles.

He purred and meowed at me as he looked up to me with his pale green-yellow eyes. I smiled and picked him up. I stroked his soft gray fur and hugged him to my chest slightly.

"So, do you want to go explore the town?" I asked Mykie suddenly. She gasped and then ticked excitedly.

"Is there a park? If I see an ice cream shop can we get ice cream?" She asked quickly, surprisingly without a single stutter. I smiled kindly at the six year old.

"If we find an ice cream shop we can get ice cream, and I don't know if they have a park here, they should though." I answered, still petting Neptune as he purred away happily.

"YAYYYYY!!!" Mykie cheered loudly. She ran off to go put her shoes back on. I placed Neptune on the floor as I grabbed the hoodie I took off earlier. I put it back on, the f/c fabric being soft and the hoodie being two sizes too big.

Mykie ran back over to me and jumped up and down happily in her spot with her purple bunny in her arms.

I grabbed the house keys and walked outside with Mykie behind me. I closed and locked the door before double checking that it won't open.

I walked calmly down the concrete sidewalk with Mykie happily skipping beside me. "Have you chosen a name for your pal, there?" I asked Mykie.

Mykie had gotten the blue bunny for her sixth birthday two weeks ago from me and she still hadn't named it.

"I dunno... I wanna name him after daddy..." Mykie mumbled. Mykie had never met our dad, he died three months after Mykie was born and mom had to get multiple jobs to support the three of us and left Mykie in my arms.

I smiled with a hint of fake. "I-I don't know-w-w daddy's n-name-e, what-t w-was it aga-again?" Mykie asked politely. I looked to Mykie and she stared at me with big, pleading puppy-dog eyes.

"His name was James, Mykie. His name was James." I told her, my throat slishtly dry. Mykie knows that dad meant the world to me, he always did everything to protect me and no matter what he was on my side until... He happened...

Mykie smiled widely. "Y-Yeah! His name-e is J-J-James, in credit-t of d-daddy!" Mykie cheered whilst happily bouncing around like the Energizer bunny on steroids.

I smiled in understanding and laughed as Mykie was dancing around the empty sidewalk with the rabbit cheering, "James! James-s! Your-r n-n-name is James-sss!"

I spotted an ice cream parlor ahead, 'Mary & Andrew's Homemade Ice Cream' it was labeled.

I called to Mykie, "Look Mykie! An ice cream parlor!" She gasped and spun around.

She squealed loudly and grabbed my hand, dragging me towards the parlor whilst ticking excitedly.

We walked inside and Mykie ran to the counter with the shaped glass that was made to keep the ice cream cold. Mykie tapped rapidly at the glass, pointing to the mint chocolate chip ice cream on the other side.

A lady that worked at the parlor–her name tag reading 'Mary'–walked over and laughed at Mykie's excited behaviour. She looked to me, "She must be a handful."

I laughed halfheartedly, "She is! Especially without my mom around to help." I said to her. She smiled understandingly as she grabbed the ice cream scoop and grabbed a waffle cone.
