Ch. 6- I Can't Do This Anymore

Dani’s POV

It’s been a few weeks since that night that I slept over at Nathan’s apartment, and since then we have hung out a lot.  I was over there almost everyday, some nights I would stay over there. The only time I went home was to either change, or when Nathan and the rest of the boys had a concert or interviews. Right now I am heading back to my flat to take a shower and change, while Nathan is at an interview. When I walk through the door, Niall is sitting on the couch. His eyes have a tint of red in them, like he has been crying. Why would he be crying? We broke up a couple weeks ago? “Oh, Hey Niall” I say awkwardly closing the door. “Where have you been?” he demand. Niall was starting to scare me as he walked closer to me. “I stayed over at Nathan's last night.” I was really scared now. Niall walked over to me and grabbed my arm. He was holding my chin up so I could look into his eyes. “Why are you always with him lately? Are you two dating?” he said gripping his hand around my arm tighter. As he spoke I could smell the strong scent of alcohol. “Niall, how much have you drank?” I asked concerned. “Why do you care, you don’t care about me anymore!” he yelled still holding my arm. “Niall, don’t say that, just because we broke up doesn’t mean I don’t care about you anymore!” I say truthfully. It was true i do care about Niall, but after I saw him kiss that plastic, I just don’t think it could ever work out again. I snapped back to reality and realised that Niall was leaning in towards me, our face was inches apart. I put my finger on his lips.  “Niall, what are you doing? “ When I said this, his hands gripped my arm tighter, it was starting to hurt now, but I wasn’t going to show him that. “I thought you cared about me? I thought you wanted me back?” he said as the tears were filling in his eyes. “No, Niall, I’m sorry I have to go get ready, goodbye.” I said, as I pulled my arm away from him. “But...” I hear him say as i run up the stairs. I can’t stay here anymore. Niall will just keep getting the wrong message. There’s only one person i can go to right now.

Almost instantly I got a text back from him. This is why he’s my best friend.

I just can’t do this anymore, I can’t stay here any longer...Niall has been drinking and he’s not himself. I just can’t be around him, I’m just making it worse for him.
