Sam

Before I know it, Colby, my STEP-BROTHER is leaning in.

"Woah, what are you doing?" I ask, slightly pushing his shoulder back.

"Oh..i um.." he looks down at the floor.

"You were-"

"I know sam" he responds, kind of harshly, and runs upstairs.

I sigh and follow after him.

"Colbs.." I say, as I enter our room to see him crying, laying in our unmade bed.

"G-Go away!" He says, pulling the blankets over his head.

I sigh and climb on top of him, in a friendly way.

"Colby" I say stern, as I take the blankets off his face.

I stare down at his face.

His tears are still spilling out of his eyes.

"Colby.." I say again, as I reach out my hand to wipe his tears, but he grabs my hand gently.

"No, sam..its okay. I get it" he says, pulling the blankets out of my hands, and back over his head.

"Colby" I say stern.

This time, Colby brings the blanket down himself.

"I just want to know what you were doing" I say, awkwardly since I already know the obvious answer.

"I-it's nothing.." he responds.

"You're a terrible liar"

"I know"

I smile slightly at him, and we stare into each others eyes.

This time, I'm the one leaning in.

As our lips are about to touch, I hear my mom coming up the stairs, so I immediately crawl off of Colby.

"You guys hungry?" My mom asks, almost carelessly as she enters my room.

"Yeah" Colby says, sitting up.

I nod in agreement, and get off of my bed.

Colby follows behind as we walk down the stairs. At the last step, I trip on my foot, and expect to hit the ground hard...but it doesn't happen.

I feel Colbys hands around my waist from behind. He caught me.

I quickly scramble up to my feet, and walk into the kitchen.

"So.." my mom trails off.

"What?" I ask, not harshly, but genuinely curious.

"Colbys order for his bed, had an error.." she trails off again.

I huff and put my hands into my palms.

The universe just wants us to be together, doesn't it?
