He passed me a tissue. "Thanks" I murmured.

"Come on. It's just a movie."

"I just can't." I said, wiping my eyes.

"You chose to watch the movie."

"Hey! I read the book and I liked it!"

He looked at me with mouth hanging open. "You read books?!"

"Yeah"

"You don't look like a person who would read books."

"Hey! I'm offended!"

He laughed. We talked for a while. Then, he suggested to play a game.

"What game?"

"Question Game. Each person should ask the other person ten questions. I'll start."

"Okay"

"Um, where is your favorite place to go?"

"The beach, I love the ocean. When my dad and I were searching for a new house, I insisted to be somewhere by the beach."

"Me too. I mean, I like the beach."

"It's my turn. Why... no wait! Um, what are you afraid of?"

"I'm really afraid of heights."

I laughed. "Really! I... I ca... I can't believe you're afraid of heights!"

He frowned and looked at the floor. I said. "Hey!"

He was still looking at the floor when he said. "It's not funny."

"Hey, I'm sorry!"

"Whatever"

"Ice cream?"

"Yeah"

I laughed. Sometimes, he acted like a little kid, I thought. I got two ice cream cups from the fridge and gave him one.

He said "Thanks"; I nodded.

"By the way, I wanted to tell you something."

"Yeah?"

"My parents and sister are going to Mexico."

"You're not going with them?"

"Do you wanna get rid of me that fast? I didn't know that I was that annoying."

I laughed. I hit him on his shoulder playfully. "God, Jason. I didn't mean it that way. It's just a question."

"Yeah, right."

"So, you're going with them?"

"No, since we start school before they come back."

"Ohh"

"I started planning for parties."

"Oh, really?!"

"Yeah. You're the first one to be invited. It will be friday. Don't worry there won't alcohol."

"Yeah, okay"

He nodded.

"I need a dress for the party so, we should go shopping."

"We?! Shopping?! No, I'm not going shopping with you."

"Oh, come on! You're my only friend here. How could you let me go alone to the mall in a foreign city?!" I said, pretending that I was hurt.

"Fine, on one condition"

"What?"

"We go afterwards to eat lunch."

"Deal"

He smiled his genuine smile and I wonder how I didn't have a heart attack.

"Jen, come on. Just grab a random dress and buy it. I wanna eat. I'm hungry. Why do you girls complicate your life?!"

I sighed and shook my head. I turned to face him and said. "Jason, I will meet your friends for the first time..."

"So?" He said and raised an eyebrow in confusion.

I sighed and continued walking. "Let's just go to Forever 21. It will be the last one; I promise."

He took and a deep breath and said. "Okay"

I was walking through the store, Jason trailing behind me, carrying some dresses. I tried all five on, but none of them were good. When I sighed and sat on the chair next to Jason, he said. "Can I give you a dress to try on?"

I laughed and nodded. I have never imagined a boy searching for a dress for his girlfriend. I mean girlfriend as in a girl who just happened to be a friend. Nothing more, nothing less.

He came back with a short, sleeveless, black dress. It was cute, but it was very short.

"No way I'm going to wear that dress. It is very short." Were the first words that left my mouth.

"And I thought you'd like it."

"Yeah, I like it, but it is very short."

"I think it's fine. And you think you will find a dress longer than that for a party?" He said, looking at the dress which was in his hands.

Yes, he is right. There are dresses much shorter than this. I guess I should just try it on.

"Fine"

I tried it on. It looked good. Maybe I should wear heels and it will be perfect. I turned and faced Jason.

"I didn't think a guy could choose a dress for a girl. I thought they had no taste in what girls wear whatsoever."

"Don't judge the book by its cover."

I smiled.

Later, on our way to the restaurant, I ran into a guy.

"I'm sorry." I murmured.

"Jennifer?!"
