TIME PASSED. how long? two months. that means, two months without yukhei. two months, and nari and her two best friends are working part-time while waiting to see whether they got accepted to their desired college.
for a month, nari spent her entire time looking at her phone, trying to see whether lucas would text her. but he never did. and she always wondered why.
but she just didnt want to bother him. she thought that he had bigger and better things. but he didnt. he waited for her text, too.
let's give you some update about lucas wong. lucas got accepted into the university of california, berkeley. his father sent a request without him knowing, and when the acceptance letter got back, lucas was in shock. for real, it wasnt lucas's first choice.
as much as lucas loved playing rugby, he wanted to just make ammends with nari and be with her, stay with her, preferably in seoul. when lucas had to leave early for an early orientation in cali, he didnt know that it would be so soon.
he didnt know that it would collide with his grad plans. that's why, lucas took his graduation pics and certificate early. he got everything he wanted in seoul, except for nari. and when his dad told him to move to cali, he didnt know how to inform nari.
he knew he shouldve apologized, but how? all he did was become a coward. he left without telling nari that he was sorry and that he genuinely did care for her. so he wrote a letter instead, he sent it out to nari before he left.
but what he didnt know is that the mail got lost. and it never really did reach nari, well, not as soon as he hoped it would.
jihoon barged into nari's room. she just finished her second shift of the day. her brown apron still on her body, she just got home and she plotted herself onto her bed. she was just about to zone out when jihoon came in.
she didnt even question, she just went on with it. "okay, i dont know how to tell you this," jihoon mumbled, walking back and forth in her room. nari looked at her bestfriend panicking through the locks of her hair that was blocking her sight fully.
she just let jihoon do the talking while she gets the rest she deserved. "so i was making coffee, as usual, right? i mean thats my job, right?" jihoon started his story, nari just hums, to tell him that she was listening. "and then minhyuk came in. in case you forgot, minhyuk aka yukhei's loud and dumb friend," he continued.
"so he came in with the team, but there wasnt lucas. suspicious, yes? he has been missing for over two months now!" he added on. nari sat up on her bed, finally, because she was surprised at the mention of lucas.
it was hard for her to keep her cool. she has been waiting for updates on him. "and minhyuk goes, i miss lucas for real, and chanhyuk goes, i wonder how he's doing in cali," jihoon babbled. nari's eyes widened, she was about to say something when jihoon asked her to shut up.
"damnit nari! wong yukhei is in university of california because of his rugby scholarship!" jihoon screamed at his bestfriend's face. nari's jaw dropped, she didnt know what to do. she didnt know what to say. she wanted to take all her money and see yukhei but she couldnt say that out loud to jihoon.
"psh— and?" nari tried to sound cool. but jihoon knows her true feelings, theyre best friends, anyway. "nari, ive known you for the longest time, and i know you still have feelings for lucas. and no matter how badly i hate him, i see how happy you get with him," he stated his point.
"and although he did you so dirty in front of the entire school, i feel like you should at least meet him one more time and get both of your feelings sorted out. because i knew at one point, he really did care for you, even if you try to convince yourself that he never did," he spoke, pursing his lips.
nari rolled her eyes, "i cant meet him, jihoon. he's in california and i have no money, and my parents arent gonna allow me to leave korea," she sighed, trying to change the topic. that's when jihoon surprised her with plane tickets right infront of her eyes.
she was speechless, "oh my god, what's the correct way to react to this jihoon?" nari grabbed the tickets just to check with her own eyes, "how did you get this? arent they expens-" jihoon interrupted her.
"sweetie, i have people," was all he said. he then proceeded to reassure her that it was no big deal. "plus, as i was walking up to your room, i found out that your parents are going overseas next week, the whole damn week! for your dad's business meeting," he laughed.
"coincidence? i hope so! now for one week you'll be with me, without your parents, and getting to see lucas. am i the bestest friend or what?" jihoon cried out loud, hugging nari tightly, ruffling her hair. all nari did was just felt thankful for having friends who cared for her.
but as nari pulled away from the hug, she was just about to ask jihoon where mark was, until her room door busted wide open, being greeted by a very happy mark lee, with plane tickets in his hand, screaming, "we're going to california, baby!" in english at the top of his lungs.
jihoon pulled mark into the hug and the three of them shared a group hug, the longest hug they've ever had before. nari was thankful for friends like them, of course. it has been two months since she saw lucas.
and she was on the verge of moving on, so close. everyday she wakes up, she thinks of how lucas is doing and where he is, and she wonders whether he thinks the same. but she also keeps wondering when will be the day where she wakes up and she doesnt think of him.
its impossible, she had so many questions, she needed answers. she asks herself, whether she would ever see him one more time, so that she could get the answers she needed. i guess that day finally has come. and it wouldnt have happened if she didnt have two of the most amazing friends in the world.
