The Powerful

Chapter 3

I haven't been able to fall asleep. Thoughts about Ms Devonian kept creeping back into my mind. The more I thought about it the more impossible it seemed.

She's a powerful. I thought. There's no way she would turn on her own kind! I think to myself.

Then it hit me. I have never actually seen Ms Devonian use her powers. Everyone else used them all the time. I thought that the fact she hadn't used her powers in front of the students seemed odd.

I heard a noise. Someone was sniffling and the persons breathing was uneven. I turned over and heard the noise coming from Danielas bed.

I slipped out of my bed and tiptoed over to where Daniela slept.

"Daniela?" I whisper.

She turns over. Her eyes are puffy and red. "He-hello, " she whispers.

"Hey Danny, " I smile. She rolls over and I hop into her bed. The poor thing, she is going through a lot. I held her in my arms until her breathing became calm and even. That was the first time in a while I have had a good nights rest.

We were woken up at 6:00 am to get ready for classes. We all went to school like normal kids. I got dressed and made my way to math. The best period.

The rest of the day went quite slowly until assembly. We had it every Friday. This was to explain events or anything special.

We all piled into the assembly hall and took our seats. Once everyone had been seated Ms Devonian took centre stage.

"Hello, welcome all," she said in her strict teacher like voice.

"Hello, Ms Devonian, " we all mumble in somewhat union. Assembly's were always quite dull and boring. Most of the time we were announcing a new teacher or student. But today was different.

"You all know there has been a terrible incident, " her voice sounded snappy and serious. "Three of our students from dormitory seven have been taken by the humans." The audience went silent as we all recalled the attack. Daniela sat next to me. A tear rolled down her cheek.

"Something needs to be done, " she says with a glimmer of hope.

"I will be forming a rescue team, some of our bravest and most trained students will be going after the three captives."

The silence of the auditorium was soon replaced with a wave of hisses and whispers. My heart was racing. I wanted to be one of the rescue team members. Daniela must have felt the same because she was no longer crying but sitting upright in her chair.

"Settle down, settle down, " Ms Devonian ordered. We all calmed ourselves and listened to what she had to say.

"There will be four members of this team, " she says calmly. My heart was practically beating lit of my chest like in the cartoons.

"Daniela Davidson, " Time seemed to slow down as she read out the names from her slip of paper containing her notes.

"Sam Miller, " I didn't really know who he was. He definitely was in my defence class. But I didn't think about that. All I thought about was how I hadn't been picked yet.

"Adrian Lee." I could barely breathe. My mind was racing.

"And last but definitely not least, Alexia Bennett. " I let out a huge puff of air. I leaned over and hugged Daniela. We were both grinning from ear to ear. Missions were very rare. I hadn't been on one since three years ago!

The rest of the assembly was like usual. The boring drone of Ms Devonians voice almost put me to sleep. We rushed out of the assembly hall with excitement.

"Can't you believe it! " Daniella exclaimed. This was the first time in days I had seen her so happy. I was extremely excited. This mission would be excellent! I thought. We both raced each other back to our dormitory.

Hey guys it me again! I am sorry for the very short chapter, my school is having exams and we are getting close to having them. I have been very busy preparing for them and studying. Hopefully I will try and post a longer chapter next week. In about two weeks the exams will be over so I definitely make up for this! Sorry guys!
