Chapter 2 ~The Demigods~

Nico

We all trudged out of the Big House with Chiron in the lead. Hazel ran up beside me.

"What do you think the new demigods are going to be like?" She asked. I looked over at her and studied her expression. I could tell she was concerned about me being written off again as the weirdo son of Hades or the Kid in the Shadows or something like that again.

"I don't know," I said honestly, trying to put a reassuring tone in my voice. "I'm just wondering which gods they belong to."

It wasn't a lie. I was actually wondering. All we knew so far was that the girl was a daughter of Poseidon, and that she had greater powers than Percy. But the other four, they surely couldn't be that powerful, could they? I guess when you count the fact that they're already 17 and have survived in the world and remained alive is pretty impressive.

I didn't realize that Jason, who had been walking in front of me, had stopped. I ended up ramming into him, and gave him a quick apology, but he wasn't paying attention. In front if us stood a gaggle of 4 boys and 1 girl. They all looked rather odd being together, because there wasn't much of a similar trait between any of them, however they did give off a presence of calmness by being surrounded by each other.

The girl stepped forward.

"Chiron," she said, which surprised all of us, considering she wasn't supposed to ever have met Chiron before.

"Hello Ariadne," Chiron said. He regarded the rest of the group. "I see you got my message."

"I did, otherwise we would not be here at the moment," Ariadne piped up. "Besides which, if it hasn't been for Blackjack's help, we would've-"

"Wait! Blackjack? Chiron you sent Blackjack to get them? Wait- she can speak with Pegasi? How are you so unfazed by all of this!?" Percy continued to ramble, asking questions that were both relevant and irrelevant at the same time.

"Percy!" I yelled, a little louder than I meant to. "Get a grip man, and let them explain."

"Thank you," one of the guys grumbled. He was taller than the rest of them, and looked like he was built for hockey. I mean, I would know. I've been in a couple to many fights with the Boreads Cal and Zethees.

Ariadne stepped forward again. "Okay. My name is Ariadne. This is Matt-" she gestured to the tall guy, "-Chris-" she gestured to a small Ginger who was maybe a little taller than she was, "-Grayson-" she gesture to a brown haired, athletic looking guy, "-and Harwan." She pointed to the last guy. "A couple of nights ago, Chiron appeared in my dream telling me to come here so that we would be safe. He told me that there were...things looking for us? I think it was monsters. Anyways, yesterday night Blackjack and a couple of other Pegasi showed up outside my bedroom window. I had my stuff packed, so I hopped out the window and landed in Blackjack. Blackjack started speaking inside my head, and we eventually got all these guys and came here." She finished explaining.

We all took in the story. It was quite a bit crazy, but what was even more suspicious is that Chiron didn't warn us until today.

"Okay." Thalia said. She was standing at the back of the group and stepped forward. When she did though, I can't explain exactly what happened. She looked at one of them and was all of a sudden speechless. "We better get you ready for the Campfire tonight. Lets hope you're all claimed then."

Percy walked up to Ariadne and showed her to the Poseidon cabin, which would be her home from now on. In the meantime, Chiron lead the boys to the Big House so they could get ready. Nico and Hazel stood there and watched as the counsellors dispersed.

"Nico, I don't feel to stable. I feel like its the calm before a storm, but we know something HUGE is about to happen." Hazel murmured.

"I know, Hazel. I know."
