Annabeth
Before long it was nightfall and I was making my way up to Percy's Cabin so that I could walk with Percy and Ariadne. It was an interesting name, Ariadne was, considering she was a princess who had been abandoned by Theseus. I approached the Cabin and knocked on the door.
"Come in!" Percy called.
I entered. Ariadne was sitting on her bunk with a pencil and a notebook doing something. Percy embraced me in a warm hug. He looked panicked.
"Annabeth I need your help. She won't talk at all. I can't get her to answer anything. It's like she's mute." Percy hissed. I'd never seen him so unnerved.
"Sure Percy. I'll see if I can talk to her. Ariadne! C'mon! We'll be late! Why don't you walk with me?"
Ariadne looked up and packed away her pencil and notebook. She climbed down from the bunk and joined me. I gave Percy a look of superiority for being able to get Ariadne to do what I asked. I walked out the door and she followed.
"So Ariadne, where are you from?" I asked, testing the waters to see if she would respond.
"Canada. I know what Percy said to you. I'm sorry if it seemed uptight or rude. I'm really shy and I also wanted to talk to you first. I had a feeling there were a lot of things you would be wondering about." She responded. I thought for a bit. I did have a lot of questions, but as far north as Canada? That was pretty crazy.
"I guess you were right. Where in Canada are you from? How did you and those guys end up as friends? How long have you known your a demigod? How did you survive so long without training? Do you have family in Canada?" I quickly said, getting the basic questions I had off of my chest.
Ariadne replied, "We're from Alberta, the guys were in the same classes as me and we all just became a group, I've known I was different since I was 9 and Poseidon told me so, I don't know how we survived, I guess we just had each other, and no. I'm an orphan."
I took it all in. I was about to ask her more when we arrived at the campfire. I sat down with Ariadne and her friends. Percy joined us a little bit later. When we were all seated, Chiron began.
"Settle down everyone! As you all know, this afternoon 5 new demigods arrived at camp. There are 4 boys and 1 girl and I will ask them all to come up here momentarily. But first, the Party Ponies!" Chiron bellowed. The party ponies were his brothers and were basically just a whole bunch of hippie centaurs that sometimes had a thirst for blood. They charged through putting on quite a show. I glanced over at Ariadne and she had a huge grin on her face. I remembered seeing the party ponies for the first time, arriving at camp with Thalia and Luke, being scared out of my wits when I was claimed as Athena's daughter. I couldn't imagine how scared Ariadne must be. The party ponies went back into the forest, and Chiron stood back up, the fire dancing with delight.
"Alright. Now may I please have Ariadne come up please."
I watched as she took a deep breath stood up, and walked confidently up to Chiron. Chiron spoke with her in hushed tones quickly, and then straightened up.
"I think it has already been made clear," he announced, "that this girl is a daughter of Poseidon!" Everyone cheered wildly. I grinned at her as she came and sat down next to me.
"You handled that well," I said to her as the crowd died down.
"Thanks," she said.
Chiron announced, "Now may I please have Matt, Chris, Grayson and Harwan up here please?" Everyone watched as the four of them approached Chiron. They all waited awkwardly while Chiron gazed at them, clearly waiting for them to be claimed. Grayson was first, as a symbol above him showed a single sun. Harwan was next, as a flaming hammer shone brightly. Above Chris was a winged shoe. All that was left was Matt. He stood there and waited. It was funny watching him, while he took in the fact that three of his closest friends had flaming Greek symbols above their heads.
"Poor Matt," Ariadne whispered. I studied her expression. It was evident that they were close and that they regarded each other highly. There was a sense of extreme admiration between the two.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a gasp from the audience. Matt was flying, just like Jason had done the day he was claimed.
Chiron yipped "Grayson, son of Apollo! Harwan, son of Hephaestus! Chris, son of Hermes! And Matt, son of Zeus!"
The audience exploded into a roar of cheering and applause. The boys sat down and were congratulated. The campfire went on.
It ended after that, and Percy and Ariadne walked me to my cabin. She was talking to Percy now, which he looked relieved about, and they all had a great discussion about how Ariadne got to Camp Half Blood. When we arrived at my cabin, I was sad to have to say Goodnight. I reluctantly did so, and went to my bunk and closes my eyes, and embraced the peace of a dreamless night.
