Jin POV
Hoseok ran around the base frantic, beads of sweat running down his face. I couldn't blame him though, time was against us. It would only be a minute left until this whole base would be nothing but shambles and dust.
I didn't want to give up yet, but the fear inside me told me there was nothing left I could do. There were no windows around to escape from, nor any more doors to go. Our entrance was blocked by a explosive device made to obliterate anything in it's way.
The bomb had a metal barrier covering the wires, making it impossible to stop it. How did Junseo even manage to get a hold of something dangerous like this anyway? It was almost impossible to find any explosives since they were not given to the public, stored away in some secret safe.
Hoseok abruptly stopped, his eyes looking directly at me. It seemed that he got something in mind, a good one I hoped. Without a moment too soon, he dashed to the old couch, not saying anything. He started pushing it, making me and Yoongi question what was happening.
A brown square trap door came into view. Was this always here? Surely not, I would've known something such as this. Why was this in a school's basement anyway? Strange. Not giving myself to think about how random this was placed, I helped pull open the door. It was dark inside, from above you could see many empty boxes at the corner, piled on top of each other.
Before we got in, we hurriedly grabbed as much things as possible, whether that was weapons or food. I carried the tapes in my jacket, trying to run to the small hole. We didn't get much of anything to be honest, we couldn't even if we wanted to.
As we pulled the couch back over the trap door, we then pulled the trap door closed shut. I set the equipment down, grip on the tapes loosened. The three of us huddled together, hands covering our ears to block out the loud sound that will most likely attract the zombies outside. I closed my eyes shut, my body shaking with fear that the explosion would somehow get inside this tiny space.
With no warning, a deafening sound echoed through the space we were in, the ground shaking. I could hear nothing but ringing from my ears. My body flinched, some debris and dust surrounded us. I coughed, it felt suffocating and it was hard to breathe. It felt like a snake wrapped around my throat, squeezing every breath from my lungs. If this keeps up, we would collapse.
"What the- Where are they?!" the ringing from my ears stopped, replaced by the sound of Junseo cursing in frustration. I held back my cough, trying not to get his attention down here.
Multiple footsteps were heard running about, some so close to the trap door. The couch would be destroyed by now, yet somehow still covered the entrance. I sighed in relief they didn't find it. Junseo's voice slowly faded away, replaced by the heavy breathing from the three of us.
I couldn't hold much longer, the air here was too thick to properly breathe. I attempted to push open the trap door, but it wouldn't budge. There was something heavy on top, probably what was left of the couch blocking the way. I looked behind me, seeing as Yoongi and Hoseok also struggle breathing.
"I-I need s-some help here!" I tried to yell, only to find myself having a coughing fit. The two boys obliged however and scooted themselves over.
"On t-the count of t-three!" I turned to face the two, seeing as they both also looked sweaty. "One.....Two....Three!!" I counted down. With force, we pushed the door wide open.
The suffocating air suddenly went away, my breathing steadying. It felt such a relief that I didn't have to worry about being exploded nor suffocating in that tiny stupid space. Forcing myself, I pulled myself up from the trap door. Once making contact of the floor, my body suddenly gave up on me, laying down on the concrete.
My vision almost blurred out while in that space, so close to passing out. It felt like I was being strangled alive, the pain from my throat decreasing each moment.
As my body seemed to relax, I let myself stand up. I almost forgotten about Junseo, scolding and reminding myself the whole base was now destroyed.
I looked around, my eyes wandering around the once homey base. It used to be our safe haven, our home. But now, it's everything but. The furniture and equipment we risked our lives to get were now gone, the dust and debris replaced by them.
I felt livid. The fast beating of my heart pounded inside my chest, residing beside the anxious feeling.
The place looked horrid, nothing looked the same as it did a few minutes ago. Our hard work crumbled into pieces.
"We have to leave this place, Junseo would still be searching for us," Yoongi said, still a bit shaken. He had a point, if Junseo was still out there, there was no guarentee we were safe.
"What about Namjoon and the others?" Questioned Hoseok, he lifted the equipment we took before the explosion. As I looked closer, we managed to snatch the weapons more than the food, two bottles of water were left. It didn't look like much, but it was at the moment.
"Our priority right now is to escape this place alive, if we don't we won't be able to tell Namjoon now would we?" I responded, taking the tapes into my jacket pockets. There was no way to watch the tapes anymore, the dvd was completely obliterated. However, the notes that always led to the next tape was always present, giving us new places to visit.
Yoongi handed me my knife, taking it from his grasp and equipping it. I loaded my gun, relieved we managed to get bullets.
Once we were ready, we tiptoed over to the broken entrance, the door completely destroyed and removed. The halls were empty, no sign of Junseo. Yet.
The three of us ran for the exit, never looking back to the demolished base we used to call our home.
Turning over to the corner, my body stopped, the two halting as well.
"What the hell! I don't know what kind of bullshit this is! They should be dead by now!" Multiple curses by Junseo echoed throughout the whole abandoned school, alerting us.
We spun around as fast as we could, quickly entering into one of the classrooms. I closed the door shut, locking it. I pointed towards the windows for exit, Yoongi and Hoseok following. Hoseok went out first, looking outside to see of anything dangerous. Yoongi was next.
I swallowed hard, adrenaline coursing through my body. After Yoongi hopped off into the bushes, I followed behind, not bothering to close the window. It was broken anyway so what's the point?
As we ran to the store across from the school, we stopped to catch our breaths. Hoseok looked at us, his eyes growing wide as he pointed towards our back. I turned around, my breath hitched.
"I found you, you bastards!" Junseo screamed out. He looked stressed out, wanting to end us quickly. I won't let that happen however, not today.
"Run!" We sped up, hearing the gunshots being fired at us. Fortunately, we were a bit farther than them, giving them a hard time to hit us. Some bullets almost hit me, flinching at the closeness of the bullets. For some reason however they didn't scare me that much, making myself feel bulletproof.
I refused to look back even after the gunshots were no longer heard. I worry for the others, Namjoon and the rest would see the monstrosity of the base, or what was left of it.
I didn't have time to calm down, the yelling of the oh so familiar frustration emitting from Junseo probably attracted not only us, but zombies.
Without a moment too soon, Yoongi, Hoseok and I left, only one thing still in my mind...
I wish he's safe.
