No One POV
"I think we should head back now, we haven't had luck in finding my group the whole day. The only thing we did find are some canned food from that store over there," Soyi said, a bit sad. She leaned on a brick wall, staring at the group of men before her.
"Don't worry, we'll continue tomorrow. Let's go back to the base, I think Jin Hyung made dinner," Jimin reassured the girl, reminding himself of his brother. His brother was about the same age as Soyi, thus treating her as if she was his sibling too.
Taehyung along with Jungkook walked at the very back, laughing and making stupid jokes. In front, Namjoon led the way back home, keeping his eyes out for zombies. He was silent, keeping alert on the environment they were in. The base was not far, only a few streets and turns.
Soft humming emitted from Jimin, ignoring the two youngsters from the back. He quite enjoyed the silence every now and then, but something felt off. The streets shouldn't be this quiet. They should've bumped into at least one walker, but none appeared.
He looked at Namjoon, sensing he felt the same too. His eyebrows furrowed, deep in thought.
A loud explosion erupted, disrupting the silence. Smoke rose up a building near by, getting everyone's attention. The base. They may be a bit far, but they know the location, and they know that the explosion is no mistake.
Panicking, the group along with Soyi sped up their running. No one stopped to catch their breath, their heart racing to the steps they took. They now know why they didn't encounter with any of the walking corpses, it's because all were driven to the explosion.
"Oh no, no, no, no...." Namjoon whispered, cussing afterwards. He took a glance of the others, seeing as they also had the same expression of fear and worrisome.
Staggering, he tried steadying himself. His mind was too focused on trying to make it to the base, not caring if he almost tripped on his shoes. He wanted to know if the three were fine, he needed to know they are fine.
Taehyung and Jungkook had already stopped fooling around a few minutes ago, replaced by the nervous wreck in their veins. They refused to believe something bad had happened to their Hyungs, thinking that all this was, was just a misunderstanding.
It was only a few minutes gone by, yet if felt like an hour. The sound of groaning filled their ears, knowing exactly what was near. They didn't question it further, too keen on trying to get inside the base.
Namjoon's hands grew sweating, clenching them until they turned white. He wished Jin, Hoseok and Yoongi had came with them. Not knowing this would happen, he felt guilty for leaving them behind.
Without a moment too soon, the group stumbled upon the horde of zombies they waited to encounter. They weren't afraid, the thought of their members in danger was the only thing that made their hearts sink.
The smell of smoke filled their nostrils, some coughing from the horrible smell mixed of rotten flesh and the smoke. It was disgusting.
"There's an open window over there!" Taehyung yelled, getting smacked on the head from Jimin. He forgot about the growling dead corpses, quickly apologizing to his members.
Jungkook ignored the bickering from the two, letting himself be first to go through the window. He leaped over, landing on the dirty floor of the abandoned school. Glass scattered the flooring, broken due to the explosion from earlier.
It was stupid to go inside a building after an explosion such as this, but the guilt that weld inside Namjoon mocked him for being a bad leader. He won't stop until he knows what had happened to the three.
Running along the halls of the decrepit school, the group of five stopped at the entrance of the base. No sound escape anyone's mouth, only the heavy breathing broke the silence.
The metal door that protected the home they lived in was now in pieces, everything was. Nothing could be salvaged, the furniture along with the DVD player were broken.
"They're not here....then that could mean they're alive?" Jungkook said, trying to ease the tension. He didn't like the situation they were in, it was like those nightmares he always got when they spent their first few nights trying to hide away from those things.
Taehyung looked around, seeing as the tapes were also missing. He inspected the broken couch - or what was left of it. He noticed a weird square shape underneath all those piles of broken pieces.
Pushing off the pile, he saw a trap door. From the looks of it, it was opened earlier. Pulling it open, dust and smoke that was left inside the tiny room escaped. Tae coughed, waving his hands around to blow away the invading dusts and smoke entering his lungs.
His eyes scanned the tiny room, seeing the empty boxes in the corner. There were footprints on the floor, imprinted on dusts.
"Hyung! There's a trap door here!" Taehyung yelled, getting everyone's attention on him. The others came over, inspecting the random tiny room underneath the base.
"They were here, they took cover here...." Jimin murmured, tilting his head to get a better view. He rested his hands on his waist.
Namjoon had enough evidence to believe the three were alive, the burden on his shoulders loosened. It made him less stressed, feeling relieved. However, he quickly remembered the explosion, how Junseo was the only suspect to do such things as this.
Making up his mind, he looked back at the others, eyes full of burning hatred. He was going to hunt down Junseo, even if it mean't killing his whole troops as well. That man had crossed the line, and he was going to pay.
"Save your energy Kang Junseo, because you'll need it when you run from me....."
