A/N: I am SSOOOO sorry for the super long wait! I would've updated earlier, but I just found out that I'm moving 800 miles to Boston, MA! Everything in my life has totally just turned upside down. I will try to update as often as I can. Thank you guys so much for reading and voting and commenting. I love you all! :*
I run down the stairs, clutching the little slip of paper in my hand. I grab the house phone from it's charger and am halfway through dialing Jake's number before I stop. I don't want to seem too desperate! It's only been around an hour since school let out. I set the paper and phone down on the table together so I don't forget to call him.
Now that I am thinking of Jake, I think of tomorrow. I have no idea what I should wear. I hope he isn't taking me anywhere dressy because I don't own anything that could even pass through the doors of a nice restaurant. I grab my mother's laptop and head upstairs. I begin going through my closet, attempting to find something to wear. I settle on a pair of black skinny jeans, a purple v-neck long sleeved shirt, and my converse. It's really the best I can do.
I set them in a neat pile by my bed and then sit on the floor, turning the laptop on. I go to YouTube and search make up tutorials. I click on one, 'Everyday Make Up Tutorial' and watch it through. I already know that this won't look anywhere near decent on me so I click on another.
By the time I've watched another 3 videos, I am certain that this isn't my style. I click on the search bar and instead of typing just make up tutorials, I type scene make up. Halfway through the 1st video, I know that this is me. I watch a couple more and then grab the make up I took and go to the bathroom.
I dig around in my mother's make up bag until I've found everything that I need. I put on foundation, blending it in. Then I take the pencil eyeliner and outline my entire eye. My hand is shaky and the line is all wobbly so I take make up remover and begin again. Once I've got both eyes how I want them, I take the liquid liner and go back around, make the line thicker and darker.
I set the eye liner down and take a step back from the mirror so I can take it all in. I look so different, but a good different. I really love what the make up does for me. I think I will be doing it more often. It gives me a little confidence. Hopefully Jake likes it.
I leave the bathroom and go downstairs. I settle down on the couch to watch some TV. It's pretty rare for me to be able to watch anything so I savor the moment. After a couple of shows, I get hungry so I order in for pizza. I only eat 3 pieces and then put the rest in the fridge for tomorrow. I fall asleep on the couch, watching some late night show I don't even know the name of.
*****************************************
I wake up early the next morning and sit up. The couch isn't the most comfortable place to sleep so I have more than a few knots in my neck and back. I stretch and stand up. I walk to the kitchen and see the phone on the table. Oh crap! I forgot to call Jake. I dial his number quickly.
On the 4th ring, he picks up. "Hello?" He sounds tired, did I wake him up? I probably did. I hope he got enough sleep.
"Hey Jake, it's Katherine," I say into the phone.
"Kitty!" I hear his voice automatically brighten up. "I was beginning to think you weren't going to call!"
I smile. "Well, you did make it a little hard to find that little slip of paper," I laugh softly.
"Sorry about that," he laughs as well. "I have a question for you... well actually two,"
"Go ahead and shoot," I lean back against the counter and tap my fingers on it, waiting for him to ask away.
