(Y/n): We're no good for each other.
You ran your hand delicately through the orange-gold locks of the girl resting her head in your lap. A soft smile spread on your face as you gazed softly at her.
(Y/n): We both like other people and yet...
Your hand stopped and your thumb lightly caressed her cheek. Her face scrunched lightly, but you noticed her smile lightly.
(Y/n): I can't help but feel a connection with you. You just had to weasel your way into my heart, huh?
You shifted slightly in your seat carefully letting the girl's head lay onto the couch so that you could retrieve a blanket for her. You turned to search for another blanket when something tugged on your sleeve. You slowly glanced over your shoulder to see it was her.
Taiga: Don't... leave...
Earlier
A knock at the door alerted you to the presence of someone. You stifled a yawn as you jogged over to the door pulling on the handle. The door swung open to reveal Taiga in a simple peach-colored dress.
(Y/n): Hey Taiga! You look nice.
Taiga looked you up and down and you followed her gaze. To be truthful you didn't know what to wear for this. Your white dress shirt hung loosely from your form and your dress pants were a little snug around the waist. These pieces of attire that give off an air of maturity were beset by the cooking apron tied to your waist.
Taiga: You look decent.
(Y/n): T-Thank you?
You questioned as Taiga entered into the room. You closed the door behind her before making your way back into the kitchen to finish up the meal. A smile graced your features as you added the final touch and prepared two bowls. The steam rising from it into the light as you set one in front of Taiga and set the other across the table from her. Untying the apron from your waist, you folded it and set it down on the chair.
Taiga: What is this?
(Y/n): It's a little something we use to make in (Place of Origin). Try it, pretty please?
Taiga glared at you before taking her spoon and taking a hesitant bite. Her eyes widened slightly as the food hit her tongue. She wouldn't admit it but... it was ok maybe even ok. She took to eating it and you followed in suit. A small smile grazed your features as you had managed to actually get Taiga to eat your food. A ringing filled your ears as the silence of the room overtook you both. You glanced up occasionally to find the girl avoiding your gaze. It was understandable, the air was tense and awkward as were the two of you.
(Y/n): Th-
Taiga: Wh-
You both spoke at the same time. You fell silent as Taiga looked away.
(Y/n): Y-You go first.
Taiga brought her gaze back and her eyes met yours for a brief moment.
Taiga: Where are your parents?
(Y/n): They decided to go out tonight.
You decided to leave out the part of them screaming it was a date and talking about marriage. You blushed slightly at the embarrassing memory as Taiga finished the last of her dish.
(Y/n): Would you like some more?
Taiga mumbled out sure as you took her bowl to refill it. This was comforting for some reason. The cold outside with the warm inside. The orange glow of the lights and the occasional candle here and there letting a soft cinnamon smell into the air. The two of you spent the majority of the dinner engaging in an awkward small talk. You ran a hand through your hair lightly as you stood up with your empty bowl. You looked into Taiga's bowl to see it was still full somewhat and made your way to the sink to rinse the bowl. Seeing the few dirty dishes in the sink, you took it upon yourself to wash them. You wanted to make your mother's life easier and more relaxing. You rolled up your sleeves to your elbows and took to washing each dish accordingly. Some time into it, another pair of hands joined you in rinsing the kitchenware. Glancing over you found that it was obviously Taiga.
