Lukas had arrived home in a bad mood. I still can't believe he wasn't there! Lukas thought as he stepped out of his car and slammed the car door shut. He stormed up the front porch and unlocked the door.

Molly was sitting on the couch in the living room when he came in.

"Hey Lukas," she said cheerfully. "How was work? Did you get what you wanted? I know you've been waiting for it."

Lukas looked at his wife with a sad look in his eyes. "No, it didn't come." He said, plopping down onto the couch. "When I arrived, I found out Lyral's team hadn't arrived yet. So, I'll have to go back tomorrow to see if it's there."

"Well, I have some good news to cheer you up." She said ecstatically. "You and Xavier have the same element! Not only that, but he also flew today! He tired himself out so he's taking a nap right now, but he did well today."

Lukas was barely listening to Molly. He was still pouting over him not getting what he wanted. Sometimes, Lukas could act a bit childish when he didn't get his way, he also tended to snap at people who had nothing to do with it.

"I was thinking we could go out for dinner tonight after Xavier wakes up." Molly threw in. "Or if you're hungry now, you can go wake him up right now." Molly was sure this information would brighten Lukas up after a bad day at work, sadly, she was mistaken.

Lukas scowled.

"Who cares about a test that anyone could take? It's not like he had to actually do anything! He just showed up, took a shot from a needle, floated around a little bit, and you act like it's the biggest thing in the world!"

Molly looked hurt.

"So, what if I make a big deal out of it? He's my only son! I only get to take him the one time and that's it!" She said getting up. "Just because you don't get why I do the things that I do doesn't mean they're ridiculous."

Molly stormed off into her room.

"And just because you're upset about whatever it was at work, doesn't mean you can mistreat other people." Molly shook her head at Lukas. "I was having a good day today until you had to ruin it." She closed her door, leaving Lukas alone with his thoughts.

What is wrong with me? Lukas thought, rubbing his head.

She had nothing to do with Lyral not being at Fort Cline. Lukas wondered what he could do to make it up to Molly. He recalled her saying something about going out to dinner.

Lukas decided he need to apologize to Molly, he walked his bedroom door and walked inside, where he found Molly sitting on the bed. She had her arms crossed and an angry look on her face.

"Look, Molly, I'm sorry," Lukas said, sitting down on the bed beside Molly. "I shouldn't have acted that way just because I was upset."

Molly avoided Lukas's eyes. "You really need to work on that." She said quietly. "I'm getting tired of it." This wasn't the first time Lukas had done this, there was always something going on at Fort Cline that upset Lukas.

"You're right, I will work on it," Lukas promised. He placed a hand on Molly. "Now what were you saying earlier about going out to eat?"

"I was saying we could ask Xavier where he wanted to go to eat after he wakes up," Molly said. "What do you think about that?" Molly and Lukas never stayed mad at each other for too long. In fact, they had already put this incident behind them.

"That sounds pretty good actually," Lukas said. "Do you think I could go on and wake him up after we finish talking? I'm kind of hungry right now." Lukas hadn't eaten anything since breakfast, so he was feeling pretty hungry.
