Groggily sitting up, I glance around. Outside the window the sun shone brightly despite it being cold weathers. Glancing to my right I see a relaxed smooth face. I sit up, stretching my arms above me and feeling well rested. I look at the digital clock, telling me its 2 in the afternoon. I scan the area, noticing the bedside table is a disaster, taking the plain white room's aesthetic. I get off the bed, removing the water bowl, taking the now dry cloth from Kacey's side, and the dirty soup bowl. I place everything back and wash what's needed to be washed in the sink. I head to the bathroom, looking in the mirror. My face looked slightly more alive and less pale than before, probably because I ate and rested. I bend down, grabbing my red toothbrush and squeezing out some bubblegum toothpaste on it. I brush my teeth with the pink paste, looking at my messy brown hair point at every direction. I spit out the paste and rinse my mouth, grabbing my black hair brush and pulling it roughly through my hair. After seemingly looking decent in the mirror, I pat some of my hair down with water, running my fingers through it. School would end soon and we need to begin on the project, let alone grab all the homework and stuff we need. I head back ready to wake Kacey from her slumber. Maybe she would be well enough to get up and go to Jackson's house. Walking to my room, I rip off the soft sheets from the sleeping Kacey.
"WAKE UP SLEEPY HEAD!!" I yell, throwing the blanket to the other side of the bed.
She blinks groggily, sitting up and rubbing her eyes. She puts on her glasses and looks at me with droopy brown eyes.
" What time is is?" She asks in a dry voice, grabbing the glass on the bedside table and chugging it down.
Seeing the alarm clock next to me, she just looks up at me. Are we going somewhere? Why are you getting ready?"
"Group project since today's Wednesday and everyone will work on it. Before that we have to go shopping for you and groceries." I state simply, pointing at the pile of clothing on the drawer to signal her to change.
She picks up the clothing heading to the bathroom. Soon enough I hear water running from the showerhead.
"GRAB A NEW TOOTHBRUSH FROM THE DRAWER I HAVE ONE LEFT." I yell out behind her.
I grab my own pile and begin changing while she is gone, assuring my travel pack, cuffs, locket, and blade holster are in their usual spots. Putting on the Nike set, I head to my closet door where a full length mirror hung on it. I saw my tan reflection stand against the white stripe going through the length of the black set. I plop on my velvet hat, not caring if it matched, making sure my shoes were tied, and finished up everything with a spin in the mirror.
I realize I don't have makeup on so I head to my drawer where the small cheap sets lay. I smear on the primer, adding concealer on my neck and cheek. I powder On blush and not bother with anything else as, why give a fuck, heading to the bathroom to check on Kacey as the running water background noise stopped."You done yet Kace?" I speak through the door, knocking on it twice.
"Yeah hold up!" She rushes out, unlocking the door.
She walks out, pulling through her wet hair with her fingers. Looking at her in my outfit was oddly satisfying. I smile at her as she slips on her glasses and puts the white towel on the towel rack next to the bathroom door to dry.
"Alright, lets head to the car." I state, heading into the garage.
Passing to the driver's door, Kacey glances around at the garage before entering the passenger seat across from me. I slip the key in the ignition, opening the garage door and speeding out. Glancing both ways, I go to the right lane and head to Superior for groceries. Living in an ethnic Latinx community, most of the store sold Mexican based food and ingredients. Upon reaching the rugged parking lot near the colerful little kid coin rides, I turn the engine off and jump out. I press the button to lock the doors as Kacey reaches my flanks. A sudden burst of cold air greets us as the doors slide open, allowing entrance into the brightly lit store. I look around the vegetables and fruit, recipes going at the speed of light through my head on what to make for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the week. Irish Stew for lunch. Beef with vegetables for lunch. Eggs with sides of bacon and steamed baby carrot. For any necessary extra food I can buy pork chops. Custard pudding for dessert- homade japanese styled Purin. To drink I'll make packeted Agua de Horchata. Rushing through the store I grabbed everything I needed. Carrots, baby carrots, celery, beef slates well marbled with fat, pork chops, milk, frozen black forest smoked bacon, eggs, broccoli, green beans, cilantro, a box of beer, gelatin sheets, vanilla extract, the powdered Horchata packet, a white large onion, a few limes, and butter. Kacey followed as she looked at the shelves of items on sale. Heading to the register, I assure I didnt grab the stout or red wine as I had those at home and didnt want to grab suspicion from Kacy of my fake ID, as she knew I was nowhere near 21. After taking a trip to the apartment and stuffing everything into its designated place in the kitchen, looking at my smartphone for the time. A red aesthetic rose glaces up at me contrasted with its black background. In the middle of the pedals of the beautiful flower are large white numbers. 3:31 PM. Enough time to shop for Kacey if she doesn't take long. If she does, we'll just head straight to Jackson's rather than dropping the things bought at my place. After we get back in the sleek black car, we head towards Main Place Mall. After searching for a parking spot on the surface level, we find one near the corner near the front of JCPenney. - Beep Beep - After the car is locked and we are walking on the sidewalk, we soon approach the entrance to JCPenney. Speed walking, Kacey jogs up to me to catch up as I head towards the many shops st the back of the department. From there I let Kacey drag me to stores for clothing. She takes me to H&M, Forever 21, and Victoria Secret where I hid in a corner because being in intimate clothing stores well,- intimidates me. After finishing up buying everything, today so far was I'd say . . . $300 ish? Probably more though with groceries. That's a shit load of money. To bad you seem to be buying your friendship. That's a dent in your wallet too. It's gonna be more deliveries if you try spending this much daily for her. I hold my locket, feeling the smooth edges under the touch of my rough hands, rubbing over the ruby stone placed on its center cover. I drop it back on its chain, looking up as Kacey advises me she has nothing else to shop for. We walk out of the store as I lift all her bags with my hands. My hands soon begin to throb from the bag handles digging into my fingers, but I ignore it as I reach my car. I unlock the back passenger door to the left as I pile in all the bags into the backseats. Pushing the little black button on the keychain, I open all the rest of the doors at once and jump into the driver's seat. - Slam - Kacey buckles her belt and everything is good as I glance at the time on the little screen of the car. In white numbers, a bright 4:50 PM shone. Shit. We're gonna be late if I don't step on it. I don't even know where Jackson lives. I glance down at my phone as I head out into the street, when I notice a message was sent an hour before.
Blinky.Bot25- Address is 2332 South Evergreen Street.
That's about a ten minute drive from here. If I step on it I'll make it in time so that way I don't get questions why both me and Kacey were late, not to mention arriving at the same time. We can stage that she entered later as she doesn't have s car. From there once we finish what needs to be done I can 'offer' Kacey a ride home in front of everybody as to make a show that nothing is going on. Happy with my little plan, I step on the gas going twenty above the speed limit. I was very good with knowing where cops were, as my mirror had a light up hidden gps underneath, signalling where coos stationed from radio signals and goverment tracking. I flick a little switch behind the steering wheel, one that looked like a switch for the signal and turned on the little gps. I weaved through traffic, heading down freeway 5 to Evergreen. Slowing down where a cop lay to the right, I sped up once at a safe distance, parallel parking in front of the designated house. Stepping out, I told Kacey the plan with no questions recieved. Her eyes sparkled as she pulled out her phone to wait a while in the car, where I would unlock the car when it was safe for her to get off and relock it after she got out, about 30 seconds after. I approached the plain white house, seeing it was of decent size with both a front and backyard visible. Knocking on the black painted wooden door, the black curtain visible through the left window shuffles and drops as I hear clicks of locks being unlocked.
"Hey Rose! Glad you made it. Do you happen to know where Kacey is?" I see Jackson greet me with a stubbled smile.
"She texted me before she was close by, she'll be here soon, come on let me in already, it's cold outside!" I urge, hoping to distract him from my car which Kacey would soon be stepping out of.
I reach into the pocket of my coat, pushing the unlock button and counting to thirty Mississippi in my head before pressing the lock button on my controller for the Honda. I enter a dark blue painted room, furnished with oak furniture. A black couch lay to my far right in front of a coffee table and TV. To my left lay a small kitchen with granite table tops. I headed to the dining table in front of the kitchen, sitting next to a nervous Maggy. Her green tips contrasted the darker part of the top of her hair due, all fitting nicely around her round face. On her pink bottom lip lay a peircing that she didn't wear in art before. In between her lips was a small white bendy straw connected to an apple juice box. She wore a dark purple flannel with matching dark purple jeans. In her bouncy short hair lay a single green hair clip keeping her bangs out of her porcalein skin, and on her neck lay a pastel purple scarf. Her green eyes stared up at me before quickly darting away to her backpack. On the oak table lay a neon green fluffy bunny backpack, peices of white paper, paints, and many other art supplies scattered about. - Knock Knock - Jackson returned to the door where Kacey smiled up at the large teen, greeting him and entering through the door casually.
"Sorry I didn't make it sooner guys, I was just busy you know!" She stated out loud into the house with a bubbly, cheery voice.
