Having just landed in LA, I found myself already missing Ava.
As stupid as it sounds I just couldn’t get her out of my head.
Sometimes it’s not the most fit or the most gorgeous or the most wealthy or popular person that gets your attention.
Sometimes it’s the person who sees your heart and soul with all its flaws and cracks and still takes you for all you are.
All that aside I was not looking forward to a week of public outings with a girl I’d never met and didn’t particularly want to meet.
The plan was to settle into the hotel and leave my bags and immediately meet up with Kendall for a “romantic first date” after apparently having been texting back and forth for a while.
For some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to tell Ava about this last night. But I had to tell her because this would obviously be all over the internet and I’d rather her hear it from me.
I took out my phone and paced around the hotel room waiting as each ring made me impatient and at the same time just wanting desperately to hear her voice.
“Hey Harry! How’s LA?”
Oh God. The things her voice could do to me. It soothed me so easily. Too easily.
“Hey Ava, it’s great . Weathers nice. Um….. So I’m calling about the real reason behind this trip.”
“Oh you mean about how you will be dating Kendall Jenner for publicity?”
I was astounded. Duh Harry. Of course she knows about it, she only works at Modest. I’m an idiot.
“Yeah…… That’s exactly what I was going to tell you. Look Ava, I know we’re just friends, but I wanted to be honest and upfront and let you know it means nothing and that it’s just for show.”
After a few seconds of silence Ava finally speaks, “It’s okay Harry, don’t worry about me. Just can’t wait to see you back here, I miss my best friend.”
“Yeah. Me too Ava. I miss you.” (I wanted to tell her just how much I missed her but Liam’s voice played in my head reminding me not to scare her off).
“Okay, well Ava I gotta go. Day one of hell with the brunette barbie doll.” I heard her adorable laugh on the other side of the phone which immediately brought a smile to my face.
“Bye Harry, I’ll talk to you later.”
“Bye Ava.”
As I hung up I realized how sweaty my palms were. That girl could make me a nervous mess from halfway across the world.
… A few hours later…
I walked into this fancy restaurant in LA called Craig’s, which I loved. I figured if I had to be on an uncomfortable date, I may as well be somewhere I feel somewhat at home.
