Rays of sun slipped through the windows of the Lor, rousing the Halcandran from his sleep, accompanied by the loud beeping sounds from the alarm clock seated on his nightstand.
Magolor rubbed his tired eyes, and groggily hit the OFF button on his alarm clock as he shifted out of the bed and sat up, stretching.
He gazed out the window into the sky-
Beautiful day out. Thought the Halcandran. Maybe I can do some apple picking.
Trudging down the stairs, he was greeted by the smell of pancakes, and Taranza in an apron, carrying a plate holding a stack of the fluffy foods.
"Oh! Good morning, Magolor!" Taranza grinned at his still pajama-clad friend. "I made some pancakes. Would you like some?"
Magolor blinked and nodded quickly. The cakes smelled heavenly...
"Of course! Wait, aren't I the host here? I should be cooking for you!" The Halcandran laughed.
Taranza averted his eyes sheepishly. "Its a past time of mine, and I thought it would be a way of thanking you for your hospitality..."
The Halcandran waved his hand. "No need to feel bad, Taz. I appreciate it. But next time, I'm the one cooking for you!" Magolor laughed. "Or what, you afraid my cooking is bad?"
Taranza sputtered. "No, of- of course not!-" Magolor laughed again. "I'm only teasing, you know." He said, taking a bite out of one of his pancakes, humming in delight at the taste. "You've got a real knack for this cooking stuff, Taranza." Magolor nodded in approval.
Taranza's face lit up slightly, a smile dawning his features. "I'm very glad you think so! As I said, it's a hobby of mine."
His gaze drifting off to the window, he gazed at the sunny day awaiting outside the ship. "Beautiful day outside, is it not?" He grinned, turning to Magolor, who had just finished off his first pancake. "Agreed. I was thinking of doing some apple picking after breakfast, actually. Does that sound good to you?"
Taranza smiled in response. "That sounds fun!"The two finished their breakfast, and Magolor changed from his star-patterned pajamas to a clean yellow t-shirt and a pair of shorts, as well as a light jacket that fit the Halcandran snugly.
Once he walked out of the ship, basket in hand, he was met with Taranza adjusting his sun hat, and humming a tune, before turning to face his basket-weilding friend.
"Greetings! I assume we start now, yes?" He grinned at the Halcandran. "Then let's go, why don't we?"
After they encountered a tree with a remarkable amount of apples, Magolor set down his basket, as Taranza began attempting to reach an apple hanging just out of reach of the Floralian. He continued struggling to reach it, eliciting a giggle from Magolor. "Need help there?" Taranza rolled his eyes, not wanting to give up so soon. He lunged for the apple, before finding himself sat on the floor. It was Magolors turn to give an eyeroll this time, a playful smirk upon his face. "Here. I'll let you sit on my shoulders, how's that sound?"
Taranza groaned, but still obliged. Hey, he couldn't help being a tad short.
After boarding his friends shoulders, he reached for the previously escaping apple, and grabbed it successfully. "Yes!" He exclaimed in triumph. "Got it."
Magolor laughed. "Nice job."
This continued for a while, before Taranza suddenly asked, "Do I even weigh anything to you?" The Floralian inquired with a laugh.
Magolor returned the laugh. "Not really, it's like holding a bag of grapes."
Taranza let out a bark of laughter, his head shooting back as he did so, making the Halcandran supporting him lose his grip.
Thankfully, Magolor had fast reflexes and caught the falling Floralian.
Taranza, his eyes clenched to brace for the previously anticipated impact, opened his eyes and was met with Magolors eyes gazing back at him. They looked at each other for a second or two longer, before Magolors senses returned and he set the Floralian down who stood up as Magolor cleared his throat, averting his eyes as a blush lightly graced both their features.
"We-well," Taranza stuttered, breaking the awkward silence that seemed to last forever. "I think it's time we go back to the ship now, yes?" Magolor nodded in embarrassed agreement. "Yes, let's." They traveled back into the Lor together in silence, careful not to look at eachother in an attempt to not remind eachother of the event that had just occured- yet it was all they could seem to think about, no matter what they tried.
After they finished the short trip back to the Lor, although it felt like forever, Magolor finally spoke up in an attempt to leave what had happened before behind. "So, what should we do with all the apples?"
Taranza thought, before coming up with an idea, as a metaphorical lightbulb lit up in his head. "We could make a pie together! I mean, it would be fun to do together, I suppose." The Floralian averted his eyes yet again, this action gone unnoticed to Magolor. "That sounds great! I can't wait to show off my baking skills." He chuckled, striking a dramatic pose, which got a laugh out of his friend, who nodded his head.
"Alright then, it's settled. I believe we should clean our clothes first, though- apple picking can get surprisingly messy, hm?"
Taranza nodded in agreement, gazing down at his now dirtied garments, pulling off his boots as Magolor removed his own, as well as removing his jacket, unzipping it swiftly.
Taranza combed his fingers through his hair, careful not to touch his horns, which twitched lightly with his movement, before his eyes meeting Magolors own, who was silently staring at him. "I didn't know your horns could move, Taranza." He blinked at the Floralian. "It's kinda cute..." he mumbled to himself. "What was that, Magolor?" Taranza tilted his head in curiosity.
"Nothing!" He laughed nervously. "I was just saying it's kinda... neat?" He shrugged.
Taranza raised a brow, but brushed it off. "Thanks." He wondered.
"Do your ears not move?" He asked.
"Oh, they do. I just never see someone with horns have theirs move, is all." This was true- it's not often he DID meet someone with horns anyways.
Taranza nodded. "Hm. Interesting." He said, unsure what else to be said.
Magolor yet again, cleared his throat. "Well! Time to get these in the washer, yeah?" He said, fiddling with his coat.
"Agreed, yes!" Taranza replied.Let's hope baking that night wasn't nearly as awkward as the apple picking this morning was.
