Magolor couldn't sleep.
Now, this wasn't an uncommon occurrence- though he had been sleeping rather well lately.
When this did happen, it was usually because of nightmares- ones of his experience of possession by the metaphorical  hands of the power the Master Crown held.
What he would often do to deal with this is simply go downstairs and use his computer to distract himself- but he couldn't do that now, not while Taranza was here.

Taranza, Magolor suddenly thought, has a really nice laugh.
His mind zipped back to the memory of earlier today, when Taranza had laughed at his sarcastic teases and his lame jokes. It made the Halcandran smile just to think about it. Not only did it sound so very nice, the smile was almost contagious and it suited him- a smile looked great on the Floralian.
Come to think of it, Magolors thoughts continued, Taranza looks great in anything.  Earlier today, when Taranza had reached the ground after descending the Dreamstalk, he still looked nice even with his smooth silver hair drenched in rain, and pollen sticking to his clothes, he looked good.

Magolor interrupted his own thoughts. What am I thinking? Taranza is my friend. Nothing more. Certainly not a crush. Maybe I need sleep more than I thought.
The Halcandran shook his head in an attempt to rid himself of the mere concept, and closed his eyes yet again.

Just a friend. Nothing more.
