After a long breakdown from Tyler after glancing at himself, Tyler and Josh had this conversation.
"DID YOU PRESS ANYTHING ON THE MACHINE?" Josh asked, both of them in panic.
"NO, I JUST STEPPED OUTSIDE, AND I'M A GORILLA. DUDE, I CAN'T DO THIS; I'M GONNA STAY LIKE THIS FOREVER."
"Okay, let's try this," Josh began, "Let's go inside the machine and see if you might change back. You were human once; I'm sure there's a way we can get you back to what you were."
"Alright..." Tyler agreed "this is so insane."
They walked back towards the machine, but it wasn't before Tyler stepped through that Tyler felt different again.
"Josh!" Tyler yelled out. Josh turned around
"TYLER! OH MY GOD YOU'RE HUMAN. THANK FUCK. OH MY GOD."
"THANK GOD," Tyler yelled. "I THOUGHT I WAS NEVER GONNA GET MYSELF BACK."
"Okay, I say that we go back to 2018 before anything worse happens," Josh said.
"Agreed," Tyler said. They both stepped inside the machine, closing the doors behind them.
"Okay. Ready to go back to 2018?" Josh asked.
"Yes!" As Josh got ready to press their home year, Tyler then interjected.
"No!" Tyler yelled, not ready to leave this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. "We have a freakin' time machine. We can go anywhere. We can't just leave it behind."
"Yes we can! Dude, you turned into a gorilla! Who knows what else could happen." Josh said wondering what was going on in Tyler's head.
"Dude, remember how yesterday we were talking about how much crazier life could be? We're living it!" Tyler said.
"You turned into a g o r i l l a. Remember how yesterday we also talked about death? Yeah, we may live that too if we don't go back."
Tyler paused. "Okay, let's go back." Josh quickly pressed 2018, just ready to go back home from this terrifying experience.
When the button was pressed, Dr. Weil once again showed up on the screen. "Rule one of the manual: you may not go to any year you've already been."
"WHAT?" Tyler and Josh both yelled, almost in unison.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN ANY YEAR YOU'VE ALREADY BEEN. THAT'S WHERE WE CAME FROM. WE NEED TO GO BACK. IT'S JUST ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER." Josh yelled.
"Dude no no no, this isn't good. I need to be able to see Jenna again, see home again." Tyler said.
"Oh!" Tyler yelled, suddenly having an idea. "Press 2017!"
"Good idea, that's not that long ago!" Josh pressed 2017, but both Tyler and Josh's hearts dropped when they saw Dr. Weil show up on the screen again.
"Rule four of the manual," Mr. Weil began, "you can't go to a year that you've already fully existed in."
"Fucking piece of shit," Josh said. Yeah, they curse when they're morphing into animals and not able to go back to where they came from. Moving on.
"Dude, what do we do?" Tyler asked, frantic. "This isn't good. This is the end right here."
"What about... 2019?" Josh asked in extreme desperation.
'NO!" Tyler yelled, already having thought through this option. "we can't do that. I won't allow to let Jenna think I'm dead for a year..."
Josh nodded in agreement.
