Once I parked in a parking space at the mall, Ally and I made our way to the food court where Carter had told us he was. We found him sitting at a table stuffing his face with food and sat down in front of him. After about 10 minutes of us talking about random things and waiting for Carter to finish eating, we headed into the main part of the mall to go shopping.
"Where to first?" Ally asked us. She should know the answer to that question.
"Forever 21. Duh!" I said. I grabbed both of their hands and dragged them towards the store. It's honestly my favorite store. Their clothes are so cute! Immediately after we walk through the door I go straight toward the shorts. I needed new clothes considering I had changed. I had grown my hair out and dyed it a darker brown. I've lost an enormous amount of weight over the summer so none of my clothes fit me. I had gotten a few outfits to wear but I need more! Since school begins again in about one and a half weeks I needed to go shopping. You can't expect me to only wear the 9 outfits I have now! Okay. I know what you're thinking. 'How can you afford all these clothes?!' Well, my mom is a lawyer, my dad is in a band, and my stepdad is a doctor. My dad sends me checks of $600 every month. Ally and I rush to the rack that has the shorts on it with Carter following us.
"Carter, you can go to another store. We won't be long so we can just meet you there." Ally says to him as she flips through the hangers on the rack.
"Nah. I'll look like a loser all by myself. I'll just stay here. I don't really need anything anyways." He responded. I nod my head while flipping through the clothes. We spend almost an hour in there looking at all the clothes. I end up getting 3 crop tops, 5 pairs of skinny jeans, and 2 pairs of denim shorts. Ally just got 2 crop tops and 1 pair of denim shorts. We check out then head to another store.
"Where to now?" I ask.
"Oooh! I want some new vans so let's go to the shoe store." Carter responds. I could use some more shoes. Ally and I say okay then go up the escalator to the top floor where the store is. We can never remember the name of the store and don't bother to so we just call it 'the shoe store'. We walk in and Carter immediately goes to the guys vans. I go towards the women's band with Ally leading. I browse over my options and find 3 pairs that I like. I find the right size, grab the box, then head to the check out. I get the galaxy print ones, the mint green ones, and the black and white rose ones. I pay then sit down on a bench that's in the store that you sit on when you try on shoes and wait for Carter and Ally. Impatiently, I slide my phone from my front pocket and check the time. 3:00pm. I'll probably end up asking my mom if I can stay the night at Ally's. I slide my thumb across the screen and unlock my phone. I see that I have a message from my mom so I tap the app and read what it said.
Text convo:
M- I have a meeting with a new client so I will be at the office working all night and all of tomorrow. The spare key is under the mat in front of the front door or you can stay the night with Ally. I already asked her mom and she said that it was fine.
B(me)- Alright. I'll drop my things off at the house then pack my back and go to Ally's.
M- Okay. Be careful. Oh! and before I forget some guy called the house asking for you. I told him you weren't here at the moment. He asked for your business email and I have it to him. Love you sweetie! have fun!
B- Okay. I'll look. Love you too!
End of text convo.
What the heck? I exited out of my messages and went to my emails. The only email account connected to my phone is my business one. I click on the email and right when I'm about to read what it says I was interrupted.
"Yo! Brooke! Let's go!" Carter yelled as he and Ally walked out the door. I grabbed my bags and ran to catch up to them. We exit the mall and go to the parking lot. Carter walked here since he only lives a few blocks away so we all got into my car then drove to my house.
"Hey Ally. My mom is working tonight and tomorrow so she asked your mom if I could stay over and your mom said it was fine." I told her as I drove. Out of the corner of my eye I see her nod her head. I continue driving as we all listen to music. Currently 'As Long As You Love Me' by Justin Bieber was playing and we all screamed the lyrics terribly while laughing. I turn into my driveway and see a figure sitting on my front porch.
"Who the hell is that?" Ally asks. I squint my eyes but still can't tell who it is.
"Stay here. I'll be right back." I say while climbing out of the drivers seat. The persons head is buried in their hands so I can't see their face. I cautiously walk up the steps to my porch, not taking my eyes off of the person. I get to the top of the steps and stand there, waiting for the guy to look at me. He looks to be tall with a slight tan and shaggy dark brown hair. Slowly, the boy lifts his head and looks at me. I can't believe my eyes. 'What is he doing here?' I thought. His eyes were closed and when he opens them I gasp. This can't be happening. A smirk played on his lips. That smirk. I knew it all too well. Something bad is going to happen.
"Hey babe. Did you miss me?"
