When I was a little girl

When I was a little girl,

I would dream of a castle in a land of wonder

A large and majestic castle and in it?

Everything a 6 year old me could imagine as a dreamer

Unicorns would grace the grounds,

Their hoofs glittering in the sun provided by the summer,

Pegasus that would elegantly fly,

Stretching its wings as it would fly by the tallest tower.

Dragons that would loyally protect me,

Through all of this I dreamed like any other.

A charming and chivalrous prince,

Who would sweep me off my feet and be together.

When I was a little girl,

I dreamed of being a sorceress,

Letting my magic unfurl.

Caressing the world and creating.

Mythical beings becoming my rare pearl.

A world of peace and tranquility.

Amidst my mythical beings I would twirl,

When I was little I thought it was safe,

I was allowed to be nothing more than a little girl.

So I dreamed of a perfect world,

A place where my perfect childlike wonder would never unfurl.

I guess in some ways that child in me still does.

I am no longer a child instead I am a college girl,

I still dream of all the things I wanted as that little girl.
