Third Person’s POV

“Do you deny you took Mrs. Ford’s body out of the mortuary?” The lawyer coldly looked at Peter.

Peter looked at him, seeing everyone else in his peripheral vision. So many people were in there. Not to talk the amount of reporters and cameras at the entrance of the tribunal.

Even Alex was there, he asked himself how that was possible. Bruce had told him he was in a rehabilitation center.

“I did not take Mrs. Ford’s body out of the mortuary. I simply exchanged the chambers” Peter said

“So, you never touched Mrs. Ford’s body?”

“Never” Peter spoke, looking at her family in the front row, next to Alex. “I am sorry I have made her family desperate, thinking she was missing. That was never my intent. All I wanted was to make sure Catherine wouldn’t die”

The lawyer laughed “So you think you are, as a doctor, in the position of choosing between life and death?”

Peter looked at him, suddenly irritated by his question “Then explain the fact she is alive right now?”

“I am the one asking questions, Dr. Graham”

“Well, then don’t ask me ethical questions, because if that was the problem we wouldn’t surely be here” Peter’s fists hit the table.

“So, you think kidnapping a woman in a coma is ethical?”

“AND KILLING HER IS?!” he yelled

“Objection, your honor! These questions are not relevant to the case” Robert spoke.

“Sustained! And everyone calm down! Dr. Graham, please lower your voice” The judge spoke

“There is no need of witnesses or even more proof when this man doesn’t deny his doing” the lawyer turned to the crowd before walking to take his own sit.

Peter also walked back to his seat next to his father, the handcuffs still restraining his movements behind his back.

As he sat and the judge said he would take half an hour break before revealing the sentence, Peter faced his father’s eyes looking sadly at him “I’m sorry, son”

“Don’t, dad” Peter smiled “I did this, and I don’t regret it”

“You are nuts…”

Peter smiled “Maybe I am.” He stood up

“Where are you going?!”

“Talk to Mrs. Ford’s family.”

“Are you crazy? I don’t want any trouble with you, Pete” Robert spoke

“It’s ok, dad” He walked to the opposite side.

“Hey…” he whispered, calling their attention.

Looking at him, they frowned, but said no word.

“I just wanted to… apologize deeply. I can just imagine your panic, not knowing where Mrs. Ford was. I am so sorry for that. I never intended to make you this desperate. All I wanted was to Catherine to be alive. I am sorry”

The middle aged man stood up and stepped closer to him “I once hated you.” He spoke, his voice intimidating “But I can only put myself in your position. I don’t blame you know, Dr. In fact, I am happy that she is alive. And I am happy I finally have my Ashley resting in peace, where she truly belongs”

Peter nodded as the man continued “I am sorry this is happening as well.”

Peter smiled “Knowing you don’t hold a grudge already makes me feel better, Sir. Thank you”
