Third Person’s POV

Cate quickly approached Alex “What are you doing here, Alex? Will you calm down?!” she whispered, annoyed.

“What the hell are you doing? Making all this uproar to defend him? How romantic!” he snapped

Cate grabbed his collar abruptly “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him. Camilla wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him. So, you shut the f*ck up, Alex! How can I even blame him for that?! He saved my life while you were f*cking some other girl and get yourself addicted to alcohol!” she snapped in a whisper.

Of course she didn’t really mean those last words.

She didn’t blame him for trying to find someone else. And, even though she didn’t understand how he turned out to be an alcoholic, she couldn’t do anything else other than try to help him go through it.

But no, she couldn’t admit anyone that blamed Peter for this.

That would not happen.

Alex stood there, looking at her, his eyes panicked and begging for help. “Cate… I… I didn’t… I thought I lost you!” he whispered

“What are you doing here, anyway, Alex?” she asked him

“I… I asked the center to come here, I wanted to make sure he was… arrested. I didn0t come alone and no… don’t worry, I am not running away from it. But damn… how can you suddenly stand by this guy like this?”

“Alex…” She warned

“Cate…  I am not gonna lose you… particularly for that guy” he muttered between his teeth

Cate looked at him, surprised yet annoyed with all his hate for Pete.

“Alex, you should just worry about getting better right now… and being the Alex I fell in love. Because honestly… I can’t recognize you, Alex” she whispered

“Cate…” he desperately said as she turned her back to walk away

“And don’t you dare getting aggressive right now, Alex.” She looked at him, before concentrating back on Peter.

He was looking down, nodding as his father spoke to him. His mother was not far away and next to her was Bruce, who showed her a smile.

Approaching Peter and his father, she asked “What is going to happen?!”

Peter looked up at her, before showing her a smile. It was his father who spoke, though.

“I have to thank you, my lady, for coming and doing all this for my son” his posture was intimidating, but he showed her a warm smile

“As I said…” she looked at Pete “I don’t want him to go to jail”

“As to that, it is not that simple…” he whispered

Cate frowned “Why?!”

“Shh… hey, it’s alright Cate” Peter approached her.

He still had his hands tied

“Why are you still handcuffed? For god’s sake it’s not like you’re running away”

“Well, I am a very dangerous person, after all I kidnapped a woman in a coma… and she was pregnant” he showed her a smile.

Cate rolled her eyes “It is not the time for jokes, Pete…” she said, worried “What will happen?”

“Well, Pete will still have to respond for a crime against the dead body, for Mrs. Ford’s disappearance”

“But… what it their families…” Cate started to talk

“Cate…” Peter approached her “That is not like your position. You are alive and you can speak for your wishes… Mr. Ford is dead. It’s like killing someone. You have to be sentenced even if it is not the wish of the person’s family”

Cate looked at Peter, sadly “How long?!”

Peter smiled “It doesn’t matter, does it, Cate?” he whispered “Look, you’re here, you’re alive. You have Camilla. Just make sure to make the most of it…” he glanced back to Alex “With or without your husband…”

Cate looked down

“I never intended to cause a fight between the both of you.” Pete whispered “Just… don’t forget about me and the way I feel about you, Cate. There’s nothing else I’ll do, you know it. Just be happy” he smiled “That’s all I want”

“Right… while you are in jail for saving me”

“Well… it’ll be fun… dealing with a bunch of homosexuals and so…”

“Shut up…” she let the tears fall “It’s not fair”

“What happened to you was not fair either, Cate…” he whispered

Before she could answer, the judge entered back in the auditory.

“Please, everyone get back in your seats.” The same old lady spoke as the judge sat in his big chair “The judge has revised the sentence. And, owning to a crime against the dead body, Peter Graham shall be sentenced to 18months of prison, with potential of freedom after 10 months in case of good behavior and posterior volunteering”

Cate looked down, even though she was panicked he might get a longer sentence, it wasn’t still fair.

She watched as her mother went quickly to hug him, following by Bruce. She let all of them, and his father, talk for the little while they had before Pete was taken by the guards.

“Cate…” she looked at her side to see Alex next to her again “I’m sorry Cate. Sorry for… changing.” He looked down “I love you”

Wiping her tears away, she kissed his cheek “Just get yourself better” she then moved to Peter.

“Pete…”

He looked at her “Hey…” he said in surprise “No tears, Cate.” He went to kiss her cheek “I’ll be just fine” he smiled

“Let’s go, Dr.” The policemen said

Peter looked down “Yes.”

“Can I call and talk to little Milla every once in a while, if I they allow me to?!”

“Of course, Pete”

She watched as he started walking away.

“I’ll be waiting for you at the OR!”

Looking back, he showed her his adorable smile “I’ll meet you there, sometime, Miss Foster”

She showed him a sad smile.

It amazed her how he refused to call her Mrs. Davis.
