"OK Gang. Stephen here wanted you guys." Nikki turned to Stephen. "Why are we here again? And why didn't you invite Matthew?"

Stephen rubbed his hands together, creating suspense.

"Recently, Matthew and I hung out together and we became even better friends."

This statement earned a 'awww' from Valentina.

He continued. "Anyways, IT'S HIS BIRTHDAY!!!!!!"

They all stared at each other.

"WHAT?!"

"WE DIDN'T PREPARE!!!!WHY  DIDN'T YOU TELL ME JUST NOW?! THEN I COULD SCREAM BEFOREHAND?!"Nikki shook him.

Valentina's eyes widened. "OH NO!!!AND THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE FIRST BIRTHDAY I SPENT WITH HIM!!!"

THe whole gang was in a panic. Stephanie was dialing her phone to call different party planners for a last minute birthday, Leon was blaming himself for not remembering, and Andrew was busy looking at Stephen's cat to comprehend that this was indeed a dire situation.

Stephen's eyebrows shot up. "Uh...No? His birthday is in four days. I was going to suggest that we hold a surprise party."

Nikki stopped shaking him. Stephanie looked up from the phone and quickly hung up.

"W H A T. ONLY FOUR DAYS?!HOLY SHIT."

Valentina tapped Nikki's shoulder. "It's ok. We still have time. At least he didn't warn us right before."

Stephen sat down on the seat closest to him.

"So what are we going to do? Are we going to hold it here at my house?"

Stephanie grinned. "Let's do those cool obstacle things!!Like we use somebody or something as bait, then we lead him on a fun goose chase!!"

Nikki gasped. " Oh my god. Steph is a genius. Let's totally do that."

Stephanie smiled smugly. "Lucky for us, I know just the place."

"A MOUNTAIN?!!!" Nikki yelled over at Stephanie.

"WHAT?! THIS IS CLOSE ENOUGH. ONLY AN HOUR OF DRIVING!!!!"She yelled back.

"NAH. IT'S PERFECT!!!!"

The gang quickly got to work.

After lots of decorating, scheming, planning, constructing, and laughing deviously, the gang finally got it done in three days.

Now it was time to use the bait.

Matthew was lounging in his chair when he got a phone call from Valentina.

"Ooooh~ Your girlfriend~?" one of his coworkers, Jacob asked.  "How are you treating her?Because if you're treating her like trash, I swear you a-" Matthew shushed him.

"Lemme call my girlfriend in peace."

Jacob smiled. "Isn't your birthday in four days? Are you going to remind her? Does she already know?"

Matthew shook his head. " I didn't tell her... But maybe it's for the best. A real....Quiet birthday with her would be nice...." He sighed.

"But knowing my friends, they're probably going to bring beer and wine to my house and drink the night away."

Jacob smiled. "I got a feeling that it's not going to be either of those."
