Prologue

,,Are you excited girls?!" Asked my mom enthusiastically. ,,Yesss I can't wait!" Yelled my little sister Callie. I just sat silent reading my book. I was on the 35th chapter of my favorite book Harry Potter.

,,Okay guys buckle your seatbelts we're going." Said my dad while starting the car.

,,Maya, honey are you okay? You're unusually silent." My mom asked, worry painted over her normally happy features.

,,I'm okay mom, just reading" I answered smiling up at her.

,,Will you ever put down that stupid book I wanna spend time with my favorite sister!" Callie yelled pouting and making her famous puppy dog eyes like she always does.

,,Hey! never call Harry Potter stupid!" I said acting extremely offended. ,,And by the way I'm your only sister"

She rolled her eyes playfully and I smiled softly at her. Most of the time she was a pain in the ass, but we really love each other. And I will always do my best to make her safe and happy c Always.

We were all silent for a while. I was still reading, Callie was looking out of the window next to me, mom was texting her friend, and dad was driving.

I couldn't wait to see grandma! Me and Callie are staying with her the whole summer while mom and dad will go back to town to work.

,,James you're driving past the speed limit." My mom said with a warning tone.

,,It's gonna be okay there's no cops" he answered her absently

,,I'm not talking about the cops! You're driving you kids for Christ's sake!" She raised her tone at him.

,,Why do you always do this Mary?!" He started yelling now. He was usually the calm one, but mom sure knows how to set him of the edge.

,,Do what?" She glared at him with anger.

,,Whenever we're having a good time you have to ruin it with your stupid remarks!" He continued. ,,And I'm not talking about now I'm talking generally! You always find a way to ruin things!"

,,I'm not having this! Stop the car! Stop the god damn car James!" She yelled pretty loudly.

,,Mom dad stop it! We're not supposed to fight we're a family! We should love each other..." Callie said whispering the last part.

,,Come on guys it's not a big deal!" I cried over the noise of their yells.

Of course they ignored both of us. I scoffed and turned my attention to the road. And that's when I saw it.

A head of us was a truck coming directly at us. Shit. In those few seconds that felt like hours, I threw myself on top of Callie and waited for the impact. Mom was screaming as well as Callie. I felt a sharp pain in my back and right shoulder. Suddenly everything went black.
