Chapter 1

<Kirito's POV>

I opened my eyes and the rays of the sun hit me dead on. It caused me to flinch a little but I slowly got used to the light and opened my eyes fully. I looked around me and found myself in a forest. My head was hurting a lot and I noticed that my left arm was dripping with blood. There was a cut on my black sleeve and on my hand there was blood everywhere. A/N - Kirito is wearing his Aincrad clothes. I couldn't remember how I got here but I knew it was not somewhere I've been. I was confused how I got here. I was born in the dark side of the Underworld. But I was exiled because I tried to save my sister who was being attacked by goblins.

I saw it as wrong and the dark nights of the West exiled me from my homelands. Well I don't call it home because I never enjoyed being on the dark side. My sister always said my heart was born pure even though I am the son of the dark lord. I then took out my sword from my back. It was pure black and the strongest in the world despite most people saying it was the blue rose sword. But I didn't want to reveal that mine was the strongest.

In the distance I heard loud bangs, they were faint but it got me interested. I then looked ahead and saw a large tree. I knew it was the Gigas Cedar as my sword was made from one of its branches. I heard a lot of rumours that the Ruild villagers always appointed someone with a sacred task to try and cut down the tree. But no one has managed to in the last 380 years. I then walked towards the tree and the bangs started to get louder.

"49.... and 50!" I heard someone say. I got into a clearing and saw the tree tower above me. I then saw three people by the tree. It was two girls and one boy. Two of them were blonde and the other had hazel hair. As well as hazel eyes. She was dressed smartly in all white. While the other girl had a blue and white dress. The boy was dressed in a blue shirt which looked worn out. I was about to walk further but I sensed my durability decreasing and then remembered I had a massive gash in my left arm. I put my sword back and struggled my way towards the trio. The loss of blood was making me dizzy.

I had gotten closer and then finally collapsed onto the ground panting before my eyes shut on their own.

<3rd person>

The trio noticed the boy collapse a few metres away and instantly rushed over to him. "Asuna check if the boy is ok and look for any wounds" The blonde haired girl said. "Sure thing Alice!" Asuna said and she flipped Kirito over. She was taken aback by the clothes he was wearing. They weren't local or anything a high authority would wear. Asuna then looked at his arm and saw the gash and blood flowing out. She quickly checked his durability and saw that it was decreasing rapidly.

"Alice his left arm is badly wounded and his life is going down really fast!" Eugeo said as he saw the state of Kirito. Alice quickly healed Kirito's left arm with her sacred art skills. Asuna checked his life and saw that now it was going up at a steady pace. "Ok his life is going up now... phew. Who is this boy?" Asuna asked looking at her two friends. They replied with blank looks. Asuna looked at Kirito and something about him felt familiar. But she couldn't make it out. He then began to stir in her arms and his eyes slowly opened and he blinked a few times

<Kirito's POV>

I sat up and saw the three teenagers look at me with caution. They've probably figured out my origin or something. I mentally sighed, I couldn't be bothered for more people to oppose me. I just want to get my sister back but I didn't know how. "Who are you and what happened?" I saw the blonde boy speak as he stepped in front of the two girls. To be honest I don't really know what happened but I cannot tell them my background. "Um I don't know... I woke up in that forest over there with the cut. I can't remember a thing before that" I said and held my head in some sort of pain.

"He could be another lost child of vecta..." the blonde girl said. I just shrugged trying to keep my identity on the low. I got on my two feet and stretched a bit to get rid of any rustiness. I put my sword in the case on my back. What worried me is why I cannot remember how I ended up in the forest. I then looked at the hazel haired girl and I swear I could recognise her from somewhere but I couldn't remember.

"Well I'm Eugeo, this is Alice and that is Asuna" Eugeo said and he had extended his arm which I shook. "I am Kazuto Kirigaya but just call me Kirito" I say with a toothy grin. "K-kirito..." I heard Asuna whisper but shook any other thoughts off. "Um well since I don't have a place to stay can you suggest somewhere?" I asked scratching the back of my head. "Our church in the Rulid Village will take you unless one of our parents agree to let you stay with them" Alice said. "I'll go to the church then. Thanks" I say and I start to walk towards the village in the distance. But someone grabs my hand and pulls me back.

"No you cannot just walk in like that... Jink the guard will not let you in as you have no ID... wait till we finish the task here and we'll take you" Asuna said. I mentally sighed but I guess patience is a virtue most of the time. I nodded and then turned back to the group. "So what is this task?" I asked looking at Eugeo. "My calling is to chop down this gigas cedar so that Rulid Village can expand its crops and build more homes" Eugeo said. I expected this, and I saw that he used a mere Axe. My sword would get rid of this tree right now but there would be some complications. Since I possess power from the Dark Territory and this tree belongs there it will cause the Dark Lord to Claim ownership of the land. So there should be another sword somewhat strong like mine but not possess any power of the dark.

"Ah... I expect another hour or so till you complete another 50 hits" I say and there was a general nod from all three. "I'll wait" I say. Eugeo then proceeded to hack away at the tree while the two girls and I sat down in the shade and watched. I then began to think how I would enter the Cental City without being recognised as the son of the Dark lord. I could not just walk in like this. There has to be another way. I need to find my sister! I know she is alive still.

"Hey Kirito kun?" I turned to my side and saw Asuna looking at me.

"Yes?"

"How exactly did you get those wounds and how exactly did you get here?" She asked and I looked at her. I sensed her worry for me which I found very odd as no one ever cared about me but my sister. I was always cast away from everyone simply because I was different. But then again I always kept to myself most of the time. "Ah well... I really do not know. As hard as I try to remember I just can't... but I know it's something very important" I say.

"You seem like a folk from the Dark territory because of all the black clothing you wear... so excuse me if I act suspicious around you" Alice said to which I chuckled. That was normal for me as I was always treated like that. But something about Asuna it felt odd. I shook my head again and looked towards Eugeo and saw him put down the axe. "I'm done guys... let's take Kirito to the church" He says and joins us.

"Asuna I guess you settle him in the church while I go to the sister to carry out my calling" Alice says as she disappears in the church. "I guess I'll see you guys later at night" Eugeo says and takes him leave. That leaves just me and Asuna. I have to admit she looked beautiful in this white dress. I couldn't take my eyes off her until she waved her hands in front of me. "Jeez you perv... as I was saying, you can stay in my room as we do not have any spares. Also we have a strict timing. 9:30 is lights out unless it is an occasion. And 6:00 is when you wake up for prayers" Asuna said.

I nodded before she lead me to her room. It was on the second floor at the end. It was quite spacious and the bed was rather big. Almost king size. "I guess I'll have the sofa" I say sitting on it. It was comfortable. I saw Asuna a little disappointed but she nodded.

"Very well... welcome to Rulid Village"
