Chapter 25

<Kirito's PoV>

It's been a good 6 months and I have developed into a much more athletic swordsman according to Asuna. I've been dubbed the best swordsman in the academy but I don't think about that too much. Its gone down well for some but for others like Raios and Humbert - it gives them more reasons to despise me and my friends, although they don't dare to approach me alone. As for Sortiliena she graduated with flying marks and also managed to beat Uolo to pursue her career as an Integrity Knight. Thus I had now become a Valet and chosen a trainee myself. She was the daughter of a noble and was just a year younger than me. Her name was Ronye, and to be fair she had skill and she was a good and lovely student. Her father had hinted to me that once me and her are graduates they would like us to be together but I refused as I only had one person in mind... but that hasn't stopped them from trying to convince me. Of course Asuna is a little worried about this but I reassured her everything is fine.

As for my friends, Eugeo had picked a girl named Tieze, she was rather shy but she had a very good defence and counter moves. Asuna also had a girl, her name was Yuuki Konno. Like me her speed was unbearable and she has a move that no one else possesses. It is known as Mothers Rosario, a 16 hit combo move which only I can defend. Them two instantly clicked and they've a good relationship outside the academy. Alice is teaching a boy named Satoshi, he is also very shy but Alice says he's got bags of talent but needs confidence.

All may seem well but for me as an individual they are not. All my friends have gone on a picnic to celebrate Yuuki's birthday and here I am sitting in a hospital lounge. Well I haven't told them I came here because I would seem very reliant on them and I don't want to intrude their free time to my problems all the time. Asuna and Ronye were suspicious before I left, well to be honest I've always missed these gatherings because I've always come here. But I reassured the two girls that everything was fine and that Azurica had given me and errand to run. "Kirito Kun, head to room 5 please" I heard someone at the reception say. I get up and walk down the hall and knock on the door. I hear a faint voice say come in and I open the door. "Please sit Kirito..." Doctor Shinji pulls out a chair and I sit.

"So tell me how are the episodes? managed to get some sleep?" He asked

"They've gotten much worse... and I hardly sleep at night these days. These visions I see feel real its like I can't make out the difference at all. Can you tell my why I am experiencing all of this?" I ask.

"Well we have discovered that bullet inside of you dissolved into many small fragments and they are floating your blood. and those fragments are from the Dark Territory so they have been bewitched beforehand thus you see these episodes." The doctor says. And I just nod, "so how would I get rid of those fragments?" I ask. But I see him frown. "I don't know Kirito... I've tried research but there's nothing on a medical side. But you have to learn to close of your mind. Control your emotions and discipline your mind" He says.

"That's hard... I feel weak whenever he invades my head... I can't handle it" I say.

"We'll have to train your mind then... come here every Friday around 6:00am and we'll teach you to control your mind and thoughts. I will assign a specialist for you" The doctor said righting on a piece of paper and storing it in his cupboard. I just sat there and thought about this whole process. I guess since Friday's are rest days I can manage but my friends have things planned all the time and to be missing those will cause some conspiracies among them.

"Ok Kirito kun we're going to seal your wound so make your way to the bed and we'll get started" He says and I follow his instructions and lie on the bed. He then injects a liquid and everything goes black.

<Asuna's PoV>

We were all at a park sitting under an oak tree with our picnic basket open and revealing the food contents. We were with our valets as well as Kirito's but he bunked off again saying he had an errand to run. To be honest I was beginning to get suspicious by his constant disappearance and so was his valet Ronye. That's why I had sent Yuuki to follow Kirito because her stealth is brilliant but Kirito's awareness is top notch so he managed to escape.

"I don't know where he went... he's really good at deceiving you." Yuuki said and sat down next to me out of breath. Alice and Eugeo are both speaking to their valets and discussing their tactics and I look towards Ronye who seemed rather lonely without Kirito for guidance. Her and my relationship wasn't the best as her dad always tried to convince Kirito into taking her hand into marriage but he always refused. And well then they found out I was his current girlfriend and it went sour between me and their family.

"Hey Ronye, you know you can talk to us as well... so what seems to be bothering you?" I hear Yuuki speak and Ronye looks towards me with tears in her eyes and I was confused. I didn't say anything bad? Is it because I was ignoring her? "Asuna I just want to apologise to you! Ever since I became Kirito's valet you've been worried that I will snatch him away... and frankly I don't like him in that way because he is very loyal to you... and plus my father is pressuring me to find a husband for the future" Ronye speaks and this gets all of our attentions. I felt at ease when she said Kirito is loyal but I felt pity for her as I knew her position. My family always looked for suitors for me but I hated it because I wanted to find him on my own.

"Hey Ronye... Thank you for telling the truth! And don't worry my parents did the same for me but I followed my goals and I don't regret it! So you should do the same... family are meant to be helpful and they shouldn't pressure you into any decisions so I suggest you take Kirito's guidance and become a strong Swordswoman and then be independent" I say putting my hands on her shoulder.

"Thank you Asuna! I will remember these words!" She says and hugs me.

Then we hear footsteps and we see Kirito kun make his way to us. I notice he looks a little under the weather. Very pale and lacklustre in the way he is walking. Also I can see bags under his eyes... does he not sleep? I wonder. I then decided to change my room and stay with him, I noted this in my brain and then I watched him sit beside me and leaned against the tree trunk. "Kirito kun you seem very pale" Alice says and she puts her hand on his forehead. "Strange you have no fever..." she says. I then check his temp but Alice was right he felt normal.

"What's wrong Kirito and where did you go?" Eugeo asks. Tieze then approaches him and looks at him before turning to us. "He's just had surgery" She says and we look astonished. "Surgery? Kazuto is she speaking the truth?" I say angrily. I couldn't believe it he didn't tell us!? Surgery for what anyway? "Sorry Asuna But She is right... it was for my wound that I had 6 months ago" He says and I sort of sit back in relief. I thought he got involved in even more chaos without telling us. I guess he's secretive because he's always been through rough patches all life. And now we are trying to show love and he's admitted he's felt overwhelmed and that they act normal around him but we know he needs love more than ever.

"What did they say..." Ronye asked.

"Oh um... surgery was successful and it's all healed I just need to take some medicine and then I'll be fine like I was before" He says, rather unconvincingly for me. I didn't know why, but I could feel that he was lying or maybe I was overthinking this... but he certainly didn't seem fine with those bags under his eyes. "Hey Kirito, I'm going to sleep with you from now on... I'll tell Azurica to change my room and that we'll be together" I say and I see him look up.

"Sure... but it really isn't necessary you know" He replies.

"Shut up Kazuto... you already miss our gatherings so I want to be with you and sleep in your comfort again!" I say with a blush. "I guess I missed your comfort as well" He says and I smile defiantly. "Great then let's enjoy the rest of today!"
